Can we actually create new styles

I'm really confused where to put this post but I was wondering if we could create our own clothes, not just color it, but I mean like create our own style. I've heard there's not a body shop, but I haven't ever made anything for the sims and I didn't know if body shop was the only place you could create outfits in. I don't know how outfits were made in body shop (my body shop has stop working shortly after I even got the sims 2) and I wanted to know if it were possible for us to make clothes of our own seeing as the maxis stuff is... well, kind of lame...

Currently, we are limited to what EA games supply. The exception is a tool that allows for the creation of custom texture styles, but it is extensive and somewhat difficult.
A tool has yet to be designed to accomplish clothing making colors or physical meshes. EA games promises something in the future and there may be a 3rd party app developed in the future.
