My driver is too old for the Sims 3

I got my computer in 2001 and yesterday I had a friend over and he checked my computer and such, and he came to the conclusion that the only other ways I can run this Sims 3 is if I either,

a. Buy a completely new driver to replace the current one I have, or,
b. Install the Sims 3 on his computer and transfer it onto mine through a large flash drive.

Is there another way I can avoid this? Because I don't really feel like going out to buy a new driver, and I also don't have the patience to wait for him to get around to installing it onto his computer, transferring it and such.
Would I be able to get a download for it via EA/otherwise, and then use my serial number?

By Driver, you probaly mean drive. A drive is something that holds storage devices, like your hard drive or a CD drive. A driver is software that makes hardware run. Drives are really cheap, you can get a new one for about 20$.

You can always call customer support and ask for a download. Being a computer from 2001, I don't think it has the capability to run The Sims 3 anyways.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
