Here is how I would update and enhance one of our more useless lots.
Museum Sub Categories
Archeological Museum - This could also have a sub-category that ties into Archeological types
Art Museum
Maritime & Aquarium - Perhaps in combination with large aquarium tanks and big boats. Maybe we can get the Ghost Pirate back along with Seas Shanties (Pictured the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London UK) my favorite external architecture for this type
Touch Tank
Natural History Museum
Science & Technology Museum
Archeology Update - Branches - This skill and Career should get a bit of an update to freshen it and make each category exclusive to a geographic area in order to give it a bit more legs.
Archeology of the Americas - North & South, would work well with Jungle Adventure
Classical - Greece & Rome
Egyptology - Egypt
Medieval - Post Rome Europe - Would be good for Cottage Living
Polynesian - Island Living
Sinology - China
New NPC
Curator - Give Tours, Accepts Donations, Schmoozing Potential Patrons
Security Guard - Walks around watching the place occasionally has to stop a crazy person attacking the art or potential robberies
Museum as a Potential Work Place
Artist Sims can get a job at the museum to do Art Restorations
Archeologist Sims can work at the Archeological Museum studying artifacts, Carbon Dating etc.
Museums as a place to Improve skills
A place to take classes for or learn about various art forms
Museums as a Multi-function lot
Could be a way to introduce the Gift Shop and Cafe
Burglars
When I think of Museums I think of all the movies I have seen with people planning an art or artifact heist. There is really a lot of potential with reintroducing Burglars back into the Sims.
As a reminder it doesn't have to be either or with burglars it can be both.
Burglar as a random lot occurrence. Residential or Commercial
Burglar as a standard or active career
Burglar as random lot occurrence - Can happen at retail ons too
Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, breaks in, no alarm, steals some things and gets away
Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, attempts to break in but the locks foil them, they leave
Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, breaks in but the security system goes off, cops show up and they attempt to apprehend - outcome dependent upon relative fitness
Burglar shows up in the middle of the night, breaks in, homeowner confronts and fights them - outcome dependent upon the relative fitness
Burglar gets arrested and a household member frees them from the police car.
Police show up in a squad car
Burglars get the Lock Picking Skill
Burglars can get the Pickpocket Skill
Those that can Fight or Foil Burglars
Bonehilda scares the Burglar
Butler fights the Burglar
Detectives can catch crooks
Dog scare off the Burglar. Can have them guard the house
Ghosts can scare off the Burglar
Servos chase the Burglar
Vampires will always attack a Burglar - They always win and when they do, Yum. Like staying in and ordering Take Out. Chance to make the burglar their minion.
Would be nice if we could get more artifacts and dig spots around different worlds not just Selvadorada. Also, some more displays and posters and maybe big attraction exhibits, like a big dinosaur skeleton or a model of an early rocket or something. Would also like a ticket machine to charge entrance fees and a Free Museum Day/Night event where you get to visit for free.

Absolutely- wonderful ideas and post- I feel the museums need so much improvement as well.
Museums and the art gallery are so lack luster in this game and it would be nice for Burglars to come in the game and try to steal that can be there big heist like maybe 2 or more Burglars.
