Question for FanFic and Story writers

I've noticed a lot of you use a variety of platforms that aren't AO3, how come?
I'm asking because I am considering writing my own fanfic/story for the sims, and I was planning on just using AO3, but I could definitely be convinced otherwise with the right reasoning
Thank you!

I had to look that one up. My (Star Trek) fanfiction has since been Fan-Published. So, it's not in any other format, beyond hardcopy and stored on my computer and, of course online. From what I just read about AO3, it's strictly for fanfiction. I guess I never looked at writing about my Sims as fanfiction, but I guess it does fall under that heading. I post it here simply to share with other players. I may look into it. My now defunct story of my favorite Sim is down in Creative Corner, without pictures. I don't think it gets any traffic at all. ::shrugs::
You can download (free) all three volumes of my Night Whispers Star Trek Fanfiction here: http://galacticgal.deviantart.com/gallery/ You'll need to have a pdf reader. New websites: http://www.trekkiefanfiction.com/st-tos.php

Well to my own personal opinion, writing a story about our Sims are under the definition FanFic, since we're Fans of the game, writing stories about the game, but it's up to each individual whether or not they want to label their writing as fanfic.
I've used AO3 for years and have written about a hundred fanfics for other franchises, so going to post my Sims story there is ofc what comes most natural to me, but I will still also be posting about it in the Creative Corner here, and whether or not that gathers traffic remains to be seen!
    Thanks for your response!

Wanted to add my two cents: since sim lit and sim blogging predates AO3 by several years, a large part might just be familiarity and tradition. Simmers got used to making their own blogs or forum posts. That being said, I’d recommend uploading your story on AO3 as well, so it can be read along with your other works.
