How do you get the chickens to breed?

I have had no options or luck with my rooster and hen laying eggs. Are there specific actions you have to take?

As far as I know, I think they breed on their own. You'll see hearts around the coop when this happens.

It's only happened twice in my game, so I'm guessing it's quite rare. I think the best thing to do is make sure your chickens are very happy, and the chance of obtaining hatchable eggs will increase. I make sure to socialise with my chickens a few times per day, though feeding them a 'friendly treat' can also help.

I think you have to wait until she invites him in. :DAnd maybe after a drink or two.

I never saw the hearts, but discovered one out of three eggs was hatchable. I made certain my Sim carefully put it back in the coop. Lo, and behold, I had a chick in a few hours. :)

I don't think you can influence this. I fed them about twice a day, and cleaned their coop once a day and socialized with each chicken with smother with love interaction. They eventually laid four hatchable eggs. Does anyone know how many times the hens lay eggs every day? I have a feeling that my hens are laying too many eggs. I have two hens and two roosters and now three chicks. I collect 4 eggs everyday.

Giving the chickens the flirty treat can increase the chances of getting a hatchable egg.

Thanks for the answers! I have only had one egg in general from my coop! I wonder what is going on. I will have to give my rooster Studly and hen Linda some extra attention. I also will have to start making them treats since my family learned a couple new recipes! :) I AM LOVING THIS PACK!

The more hens you have the more eggs you will get. Then adding roosters as previously mentioned will result in hatchable eggs. My legacy sim currently has 2 coops with about 4 hens in each and 1 rooster each, and we now have 4 chicks. I agree with you Alan, this pack is a lot of fun!
Autumn, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I HAVE JUST RETURNED VERY HAPPY! My sim just checked for eggs and there was a single hatchable egg! Yay! I am gleeful with how you can actually see the cute little egg incubating inside of the coop. Oh my! I get too excited over a video game but I LOVE THIS EXPANSION. It has been so satisfying to do a rags, off the grid, little family! They are constantly stinky and constantly busy and hungry! What a fun time that is! lol
