Cannot separate household, Sims disappear

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with separating households. I wanted to move two of my Sims away, create a new household with them - but when I separate them, they do not appear on the right panel. When I click on the household again, they're in the picture as if I never moved them out, but when I choose to separate them again, they're not here anymore as if I moved them out. They're literally nowhere. And when I try to get back to the game, the house is completely empty, all the Sims are gone.
It never did this before although I still have the same laptop and CC, I just launched it after few months and suddenly this happens. Anyone knows what to do with it? Thanks in advance.
