Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen HELP

I decided to try a brand new game save, deleting one of the two new ones I had just created prior to the PATCH. I could play my game immediately after said patch. Even those existing games. No crashes. Next day I come to the forums to learn there is a hotfix for the patch, since so many complained of these game crashes. I shrug and download it. Mind you, I wasn't having any problems at that point. None. Did I say none? I meant NONE.

Now, I've got the red, white with question marks skin if my Sims wear a particular outfit or shoes. I have slowly removed mods and discovered the problem remained. I took out SOL, problem is still there. I replaced it and took out Private Practice. Problem was still there. I then got wild and crazy and removed Road to Fame, despite the creator's word that it wasn't malfunctioning after this patch. Still had the weird 'skin' with certain Island Living clothing. Oi! What a nightmare.

I finally gave up and sorted my 18th century cc into separate folders, leaving them on my desktop. Problem is still there. Finally, I emptied my Mods folder entirely. Guess what? You're quite correct. The problem remains. I'm about to tear my hair out by the roots. This is infuriating!

I just want to unwind and play my game. I even started fresh game saves. No dice. Problem remains.

As a last-ditch effort I'm now going to uninstall and reinstall, since the repair game didn't help.

Pray for me, I'm going out of my mind, or at least what's left of it.

If anyone knows how to fix this, please give a shout out.

Please, and thank you, in advance.

I'm going to uninstall and reinstall and if that doesn't work. All I can say is I'm very glad I made a back-up copy of my Sims 4 folder ahead of time! Never has a patch caused me so much grief before.

    Thanks for responding. :)

Thanks. I uninstalled and reinstalled, now I can't find all of my packs. Are they considered ad-ons?

Sounds like a missing mesh from those CC shoes and outfits you are selecting. Check the in-game thumbnail of those items when you select them. Some CC items have the creator name in the thumbnail. Then sort them out in your cc folder.

You probably did it but remember to delete the localthumbnailcache.

If it's also affecting the Island Living outfits... Maybe try making a new TS4 folder? Drag your TS4 folder (the one inside Electronic Arts) to your desktop. Or save the important ones (Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots and options.ini) and delete TS4 folder. Then start the game so it creates a new folder. Then put back your important files.

I hope you sort this out soon.

Edit: didn't see you reinstalled the game.

I just attempted to play my game and saw the listing of all my game packs on screen left, like normal. Before I selected a game, a pop-up stated it was in the midst of downloading. Odd, that I could see nothing happening, but phew! I have a back up of my Sims4 folder, so I can retrieve the saves, tray and whatnot. I'm leery of putting anything back in, understandably. I'd like to see if that weird 'skin' has gone away, first. All of this for an EP I didn't even want. Sheesh.

If that happens again, it could be one of two things that I can think of, so I'll give you both suggestions.

First, delete the localthumbecache file in your Sims 4 folder. I can't guarantee it will solve the issue, but since it sounds like a CC issue, it could be that file.

Please remember that any time you change your mods folder, you need to delete that file. If you take something out, delete the file. If you put something in, delete the file. Your game will generate a new one when you start it up again. I'd also suggest doing a game repair in Origin after troubleshooting any issues.

Second, your problem could also have been caused by default CC. People have been reporting broken defaults like eyes and skin, so if you have any CC that replaces game defaults, remove it (remember to delete the localthumbecache file!) and look up the creator to see if there has been an update.

Hope you are able to work it out! :)

Thank you for your suggestions. Ultimately, I had to uninstall and reinstall. Then that led to additional problems, such as not being able to get my game packs back. In the end, I had to uninstall and reinstall Origin. This got my game packs back, finally. But now, I can't play because my game save crashes. Mind you, I didn't have this problem initially after the first patch. I had the other problem after the hotfix, to fix the crashes. Now, I'm crashing. I have tried to update, but it says I'm up-to-date. What to do, now? :open_mouth: I haven't really played my game since Monday, last.

I would contact SimGuruNick about it or see if the bug has been reported in bug section:

I had a bug with the new pack myself and I just messaged SimGuruNick my save file through EA Answers HQ.

UPDATE: I am happy to report that after uninstalling and reinstalling Origin again this morning, that all of my game packs are in place and fully downloaded. I read a full chapter of a book, whilst I awaited it to finish the downloading. I did discover, at first, that as long as I had mods/cc in my game, I couldn't load my game. At least not from the neighborhood screen. So, I unticked the button in gameplay options. From there I pulled a couple of 'iffy' mods. Iffy as in so far the creator hadn't experienced any problems. Private Practice was said to be okay, so long as you left out the careers file from the mod. Nope. I removed PP and then SOL and RTF. With only MCCC in place and not a stitch of clothing cc or the hairs, my game loaded. Yay. Then I was able to return Road to Fame and got into my game save just fine. After a couple of hours of gameplay, I decided to slowly add back my 18th century cc clothing. I had organized the cc into separate folders on the advice of another play over on one of the Discord channels I frequent. Female caps; female dresses; male clothing; hair. I began with the hair. Found all but two of the hairstyles and when I placed them on my Sim she didn't go all wonky as per last week. Finally found the other two hairstyle under men's hair. :open_mouth: For grins and giggles, and just to see if my Sim would go wonky, I placed the updo on my Rising Star. He's cute, but the hair on him, despite most of it being underneath his hat. No, just NO. LOL When I brought his sister back into cas, suddenly the two hairstyles could be accessed. Go figure. The long and the short of it is, so far my 18th century cc (so needed for my other game save) is working just fine. No missing meshes that I can tell and no red, white and black question marked skin either. Phew!

I am once again a VERY HAPPY CAMPER.

Many thanks to ALL of you and your suggestions and sympathy.
