The main page is a little tricky, it's just that red box. You need to click on the options above the box to manuever around the site.

For instance, to see descriptions for what the Mod does, click on Documentation at the top of the main page and there will be a drop-down list for each section of the Mod: https://deaderpool-mccc.com/#/

MCCC has 24-hour help available on their discord if you have more questions or get stuck: https://discordapp.com/invite/AUJ8RAa

For story progression specifically, you need the Population and Pregnancy modules, as well as the main module of course.
Copied from the MCCC website (under spoilers as it's a bit of a wall of text):

    Population:
The MC Population module contains functionality related to creating new homeless Sims or moving out elders.
The homeless population happens by replacing the Sim(s) that Sims 4 is requesting with Sim(s) specific to the settings. From my personal testing, 99% of the time, this is a single Sim. This is due to Sims 4 requesting a jogger…or a walker…or a mailman…it’s kind of insane really. How many jogger/walker/mailmen do you need?! I just intercept the request from Sims 4 for whatever and replace the request with our own Sim request.
This functionality runs automatically, so there are no command-line actions for mc_population but below are the settings.
    Ancestral Home Details
Unlike Sims 3 where home lots could be marked as “Ancestral”, in the Sims 4 there isn’t a way to “flag” a home lot. So, instead, I am flagging the household that lives in the lot and the household retains the ancestral nature rather than the home itself.
Flagging for Ancestral Households are not available for all Sims. Due to the fact that its purpose is to prevent Sims from autonomously marrying/moving-out/changing household names, it doesn’t make sense that it would apply to Active Sims, for example. Also, if the Sims don’t live on a lot, there is no reason to flag them as an Ancestral Household due to having no lot to be Ancestral.
Here’s some of the effects Ancestral Households have with the other modules.
When Sims get married, then will stay on their ancestral lot if there is not someone else there young enough to carry-on the family name. The new spouse will move in to the ancestral lot and they’ll raise their family there. The new spouse will be renamed to match the ancestral name.
Random pregnancies and marriages don’t work between two Ancestral Households. Those rich folk don’t like to intermarry, it seems!
Random pregnancies and marriages will not work between an Ancestral Household and a vampire household if “Enforce Vampire Homes” is enabled.
If the setting is enabled so single Sims move-out when they get old enough, if they live in an ancestral lot, they will only move-out if someone is there that can carry-on for the family.
If syncing married names is enabled, when syncing names on an Ancestral lot, all names are kept with the ancestral name.
If you try to flag a Sim in an Ancestral household as homeless, you will not be able to do so.
If you move the household that is flagged as ancestral to a new household lot, then that new house becomes their ancestral home. If you make them homeless, by evicting them from the neighborhood screen, then MC Cleaner will remove the ancestral flag when it runs cleanup on households next.

    Pregnancy
The MC Pregnancy module contains functionality specifically oriented to enabling other Sim households within the neighborhoods to have children and get married.
The random pregnancy/marriage checks run at midnight. They run on different days depending on the game speed. The faster the game, the more often they run to allow more pregnancy/marriage chances before the Sims get too old to have children or get married. If a game is on No Aging, the check runs once a week and Sims will have a totally random chance to have the children and get married instead of it being based on the amount of time they have until age-up.
Long Age time = Day 2 (Tuesday), Day 6 (Saturday)
Normal Age time = Day 1 (Monday), Day 3 (Wednesday), Day 5 (Friday)
Short Age time = Day 0 (Sunday), Day 1 (Monday), Day 3 (Wednesday), Day 4 (Thursday)
No Age time = Day 6 (Saturday)
Rules that determine whether pregnancy can happen for a target Sim when random pregnancy checks occur
If the Sim is homeless and you have homeless pregnancy disabled in settings, they will not get pregnant.
If there are no free slots in the house, they will not get pregnant.
If the Sim doesn’t match the Pregnancy Age or Gender settings, they will not get pregnant.
If the Sim is set to never “Get others pregnant” or to “Become Pregnant”, they will not get pregnant (The Neither pregnancy setting in CAS).
If the Sim is set to only “Get others pregnant” in CAS, they will not get pregnant.
If the Sim is an active Sim or a “special” Sim (Reaper, Von Haunt ghost, etc.) they will not get pregnant.
If the Sim is not “Marked for Pregnancy” and the number of children the Sim has already conceived is equal to the Maximum Household Children, then they will not get pregnant. With the pregnancy mark, this rule can be bypassed.
If Bypass Active Relationships is enabled and the Sim is a “significant other” of an Active Sim, then the Sim will not get pregnant.
Rules to choose a partner Sim for impregnation:
Does the Sim have a significant other? If so, try to use that Sim.
The candidate Sim must match the Pregnancy Age and Insiminate Gender rules. If the Sims are married, the Pregnancy Age does not have to match. This allows an Elder spouse Sim to impregnate a younger Sim without Elders being defined in the Pregnancy Age setting.
The candidate will not be in the active household (active Sims can handle their own pregnancies thank you very much!)
The candidate will not be the Grim Reaper! No reaper babies!!
If the Sims are not already married, then the candidate and target Sims must be compatible based on gender preferences:
If either Sim has the Same Sex Only flag, then the two Sims must be the same gender. Note that this means the other Sim must not have a conflicting gender preference.
If either Sim has the Opposite Sex Only flag, then the two Sims must be the opposite gender. Note that this means the other Sim must not have a conflicting gender preference.
If no flags are in use, then if Pregnancy_SameOppositeSexOnly is “O”, then the candidate must be the opposite gender of the target Sim.
If no flags are in use, then if Pregnancy_SameOppositeSexOnly is “S”, then the candidate and the target Sim must be the same gender.
For marriage, if either of the Sims have the Marry Any Age flag, then the Use Same Age group setting will be ignored and the Sims can be of any valid marriage age.
For marriage, if either of the Sims have the Marry Same Age flag, then the Sims must both be the same age to be married.
If Use Same Age Group is enabled, then the candidate must be in the same age group as the target Sim.
The candidate must be allowed to “Get Others Pregnant” in CAS settings.
If either of the Sims being evaluated are in Ancestral Homes, then the other Sim must not also be in an Ancestral Home. Two Ancestral Homes cannot get one another pregnant. No Romeo and Juliet here!!
If one of the Sims is a vampire and the other lives in an Ancestral Home and “Enforce Vampire Homes” is enabled, then they will not get pregnant together.
If Pregnancy_EnforceFamily is true, then the candidate Sim cannot be related to the Sim in question.
If Bypass Active Relationships is enabled then the candidate Sim cannot be a “significant other” of an Active Sim.
If Pregnancy_AllowAffairs is false, then the candidate must not have a spouse (other than the candidate Sim, which we would allow OF COURSE!)
There must be free slots in a household. If the candidate is homeless, there must be space in the target Sim’s house. If they are married already, there must be space in their existing household. If the candidate is living in a house and the target is not, there must be space in the candidate’s household.
If Homeless Pregnancy is not enabled, one of the two Sims must live in a house.
Rules to determine who moves in where after pregnancy happens and Sims are married
Note that the moving only happens if a random roll against Pregnancy_AutoMarryPercentage succeeds.
If one household is ancestral and the other Sim is a vampire, they will not get married and move-in together.
Lowest value household tries to move-in with higher value if there is room. Otherwise, they try for lower value.
If there are no children in the moving household, the move happens fine.
If there are children and no other adults, the children have to be moved as well to prevent orphaning. If this can’t happen, the move/marriage doesn’t happen.
If there are children and other adults, the children are not moved unless Pregnancy_MoveFamilies is true and the children are the offspring of the moving Sim (Definition of children Sims are any Sims that the game framework doesn’t allow to live in a household alone so babies, toddlers and children).
What percentages are used to determine offspring count for the various maximum offspring settings
For maximum offspring = 1, there is a 100% chance the Sim will have one child!! Surprise!
For maximum offspring = 2, there is a 90% chance the Sim will have one child and 10% chance they will have twins.
For maximum offspring = 3, there is an 89% chance the Sim will have one child, 10% chance they will have twins and 1% they will have triplets. This is EA's default percentage setting.
For maximum offspring = 4, there is a 75% chance the Sim will have one child, 15% chance they will have twins, 7% they will have triplets and 3% chance they will have four children.
For maximum offspring = 5, there is a 55% chance the Sim will have one child, 25% chance they will have twins, 13% chance they will have triplets, 5% chance they will have four children and 2% chance they will have five.
For maximum offspring = 6, there is a 35% chance the Sim will have one child, 30% chance they will have twins, 18% chance they will have triplets, 11% chance they will have four children and 4% chance they will have five and 2% chance they will have six.
