I don't like it either, that's why I keep that cheat on hand every time one of my kids goes through this phase. It's a bit much. Pretty over"bearing". I might have thought it was cute if the phase didn't last so long.
My youngest Sim and the only daughter in one of my games is now currently going through this phase. Dad had the desire to dress like a bear and silly me, I took the family into cas.fulleditmode to accommodate the whim. Then I realized I just had to find it in the menu. Went back and removed the costume from his wardrobe. LOL I just don't desire to see him walking about as a giant bear, randomly. Sometimes I do wonder if I'm getting a tad addle-brained.

I did the same thing the first time I encountered it, if it makes you feel better. I just used Plan Outfits and it was in the Full Body category. It's better than Picky Eater or Mean Streak.

The parents dress like a bear with the child did NOT do it for me. This phase is a lot worse than picky eater. If another household in my same game file managed to nip the phases in the bud, why can't mine? #sims4issues #ihatephases #permanentgrounding
I don't mind the bear phase. I think its sort of cute. The one I find too un-bear-able is the distant phase that teens get. Its so frustrating to have them tense all the time and crabby with everyone. I never noticed how little my sims give a darn about personal space until trying to keep the tense mood off the teens.
I did find that 'ask about phase' helps quite a bit. When the mom and dad started dressing as bears with the son he managed to snap out of his phase by the next day. Also, taking the teens to volunteer work helps with the distant thing, though its not immediate.
Loving yourself is the most simple and complicated thing you can do for you.

Oh hey, he's wearing a straw-bear-ry outfit!
You can get the child to change out of the costume whenever you like but they will have a sad moodlet for not being allowed to dress like a bear.
I actually think that phase is kinda cute, though I do wish the costume was more like a hooded onesie to show the child's face.
