SOMEONE OUT THERE WE NEED YA HELP!!
If you're talking about the fast-forward buttons not working at all, this may be something on your end. They work fine for me, and many other simmers.
Now, if you're complaining that it's not fast enough, I don't know what to tell you. It could again be something with your computer specs, or you could just be impatient. I would suggest trying to play a household with more than one sim to begin with. It might be more interesting for you?
But hey ... good luck to you all ... this sucks but in your position I would kill myself :x :?
I hope that EA posts the patch soon!
Let's hope for the best.
Mine has crashed twice with a black screen, but I've never had to restart my computer. Do Ctrl+Alt+Delete and end the program. It'll return to your desktop with no shutting down.
I hope the patch fixes a lot of the problems. But seriously guys, what did you expect? The first installment in nearly 5 years? Of course it's going to have some bugs. Everything does. Just keep playing over the problems and you'll get over it when the patch comes out.
Can you please post a full copy of your DxDiag? If you're unsure of how to obtain that information, please read and follow the steps listed here:

Thanks!
If your system is up to specs, with a supported video card, and it's not working properly, try following the link in some of BigGuy's posts, and download a new driver for your card. It certainly won't hurt, and it's free.
Also try using your TS3.exe file in Electronic Arts and not use The Sims 3 Launcher, that usually helps. Hope it works for you simmy.

I have encountered in many other games really bizarre stuff with some video drivers over others. Sometimes people find that using slightly older drivers can work better because those were the drivers that the developers were using back when they were working on the game. Other times you need the absolute most current drivers out there to get things to run right. Not saying this is the case with this game, but first thing I look at when I'm having odd game issues is changing out my drivers to the newest available, both video and audio.
That said, I do agree with some that the speed up modes at the highest are slower than what I'm used to from TS2. But then, there's a lot more stuff being rendered and run in the background with the whole town now.
I hate how if you put it on 4-speed it'll automatically toggle back to 3-speed after a given amount of time.
