Personally.. i don't like the emotion system. Its unstable, something has to be done about it. They keeps smiling and being happy most of the times. Decorations spoiled it, little things that gives long term happy points spoiled it. Its hard to get rid of happy, so that i can keep my sims neutral & fine.
Secondly, i dont like the default walkstyle. I thought any kind of sims would fit with that walkstyle. Because actually it does looks silly and kinda weird if you notice it.
Thirdly, the lightings. I see some issues such as.. there's area emits from one side, but the sims reflect the light from the opposite site. So weird. And also, the sims doesnt get any darker at all when they're in area totally without lights. Next, the indoor lightings is so DIM(please increase the emission!). Lastly, flames, tv, computer, etc doesn't emit lights and campfire emits white light, they should fix it.
I wouldn't have thought that in the beginning but I really begin to miss cars. The pumped up toy cars I use for decoration look terrible. And of course body hair must return immediately.
More group activities. If stereos didn't speed up with the speed of time like in TS3 that would sure be nice and when my Sims walk into a room that music is on I shouldn't have to tell them to listen to it their ears should already be hearing it. For example I keep a stereo near the painting easel for my Sims to listen while they paint which keeps their fun level from dropping and I have to direct them to listen and then paint or they don't hear it even though the stereo is right next to them.

I think moodlets need to go in all forms. I didn't like them in 3, and I don't like them in 4. The emotions and emotionally driven gameplay is a joke and makes the game feel immature, imo.
Dissatisfied with Sims 4 and hoping for a better Sims 5
I had to strip bare my rich sims home to get any plausible behaviour from them, which is ridiculous. Then I found a mod, which should not have been necessary. Tbh, and this has been discussed before here, I don't mind moodlets so long as the game is coded well enough to know which moodlet should be given extra weight compared to other competing buffs given the situation, the sims traits, experiences and age. A lot more variety in emotional expression depending on life stage is also welcome.
- the incests bug
- need more family play, including toddlers and better teens (or add young teens/preeteens as chaning the curent teens size might be hard)
- family tree need to work better, and not be affected by culing or death.
- the emotions need to be tuned
- traits need to influent the sims actions and emotions more
- if music sims need to hear it... not be told to hear it
- more freedom in play, less linage play, less holding our hand saying you need to do exsactly this to get a promotion or advance in your aspiration.
- npc's like repairmen, babysitter, nannie (to live in), firefighter, police, burgler, gardner
- chaning of the culing, either higher max number sims, let us set max number of sims, let us mark some sims as protected even if we don't play them.
- some sort of storyprogresion, can be just like the birthday parties where sims invite you to partys to celebrat lifechaning event (and then they happen) as you then choose if you want it to happen by turning the option for these parties on or off, and it only happens if you goes.
Party types ideas:
birth - sim got a baby
engangment - sim got engange
move in - sim moved in to a house (alone or with outher sims)
marrige - sims got marrige (auto move in as 1 houshold)
new job - sim got new job
promotion - sim got promoted
Oh boy here it goes. Sorry in advance for the long list and these are just a few things.
1) Emotions: need to be longer and good balance of negative ones. Zerbu did amazing things to improve this.
2) Memory system: There needs to be one especially like an improved version of the Sims 2 memory system. It would benefit the emotions a lot.
3) Traits: They really need to be more connected and effective towards emotions and just the game in general. Like having geeks progress in the gaming job faster than others and be better at tournaments. Little details like that would help.
4) Transportation: There is none even carpools or school buses or taxis that have been part of the series since day one. They needs to be that at least. I'm tired of seeing Sims poof everywhere.
5) More NPCs. Base game needs the basic ones like burglars, policemen, firefighters, gardeners, handymen, paper deliverer, etc.
6) Family play: more life stages, fleshed out life stages, interactions, and family activities. There isn't even play interactions anymore.
7) Town editor: Since the Sims 4 is closed world, least it could have is ability to place lots, rotate lots, and pick lot sizes.
8) Color wheel: I mean if textures can't be done in the Sims 4, at least give Simmers the ability to change colors on things. It would save so much CC space.
9) Terrain and pond tools: need to come back. Building is not the same without them.
10) Fix culling and incest issues. Both effect the game badly and will only get worst with time.

I really want open neighborhoods. I think that would go a long way to improving game play. I hate that there's these beautiful places in the background that I can't go to. Or visiting my neighbor. Its just so restrictive.
Also, the emotions are whack. They're all over the place. I feel like my Sims are bipolar.
- Teens need to be and look more different than young adults
- A wants and fears system
- Traits that change the way your sim socialises
- Bring back the basic npc's (handy man, gardener, nanny etc.)
- bring back the funny npc's ( Social bunny, Miss Crumblebottem, tragic clown etc.)
- More gravestones
- grocery stores
- Cars ( atleast carpools and school busses)
In addition to what others already said, I would like an easy/normal/hard/epic mode. I get bored if my Sims reach the top of their careers too fast and never have the possibility to get fired, plus I would like a system to stop the fact that every Sim can have every job, I want jobs to have requirements to begin with and part time jobs to go on while working to meet these requirements, in epic mode for example, that would make the game funnier for me.

We have whims in the game already and I do like those
Though I wish when a sim was pregnant that there would be special whims like in TS3. Buying a bassinet, reading a baby book or something, to have a baby boy/girl. That would make family play a bit more cool for the base game.

The Sims 4 is perfect as is.
No. It is not.
Everyone has their opinion and I have mine.
TS4 is as perfect as that Franklina girl I don't know. Which means TS4 is not perfect at all.
