Depends on the type of ghost. Do you just want a ghost or a playable ghost?
To get a plain ghost. Kill a sim, simple as that.
A Playable ghost a little harder.
1. Make a Family of 2
2. Kill one of them (make sure the are friendly to one another and that the other sim has little skills. The more skills harder to get)
3. Wait for a call from scientists to bring loved one back to live. Say yes
4. Scientists are stupid and made you a playable ghost! Congrats!
easy, don't buy refrigerator or any kitchen stuff, basically don't let them cook food or eat food, and don't give your sim a job. Wait a couple day and see the result.
So if you kill a Sim on purpose, it's a good idea to add a single unskilled (young) adult to the family and make friends with the still living sim?
Should that guy get a job or should he just hang out?
I made mine hang out with the remains of her husband for a bit... My sim played the guitar though and got some skills... (free will =/ )
You don't have to have an unskilled sim, it just takes a lot longer to get the option. You have to answer your cell phone to get the call from the scientists.

The chances are greater if you have unskilled sims.
I have only had 2 sims die, and both times I got the option. Only used it once though. Both sims that got the calls were skilled at stuff. It's just easier to get unskilled.
