Creepy imaginary frinds

moonandsixpensmoonandsixpens Posts: 553 Member
I haven't been playing with the little ones for while and lately I had my sim adopted two babies. I didn't check for mails until the older brother turned to a child while the little sister was still a toddler. To my surprise adopted babies have imaginary friends too. I am no sure if that was because my game couldn't save and I had to save the family to bin to start a new game. Anyways, when the little sister turned into a child her imaginary friend grew up with her. I am not entirely sure if that doll is hers. After all her brother automatically played with her doll for once or twice, too. He almost completely ignored the other imaginary friend doll in the house o.0... So when all the kids turned children they socialise with each other a lot, while the imaginary friend is always standing next by, watching. No matter how many sim kids I raised I still find that really creepy.

Here is a picture when the two kids were playing and the doll watching. I sometime feel a bit sad for the doll because my sim kid always ditch him/her for her brother and mother. But I dislike the scenario that my sim kid's best friend is a doll and she ignores her environment and family and only plays with her doll. So what I usually do is letting the kids play while I switch to the brother or the parent

And since my sims' house is not that big, it's a bit difficult for the poor kid to manoeuvre when there always is someone tailing her... One time when she tried to eat the fridge left over, her imaginary friend just stood behind her. She turned around and found her way blocked so she tried to walk around the doll while the doll doing the same. They ended up stuck and I had to cancel the whole thing and had her do it all over again. She ended up standing, facing the wall while she ate lol

I still allow the doll's existence only because I am curious what will he/she look like when turned to "human". I haven't even check his/her traits yet. Hopefully a slop since the parent is neat and things might get really interesting when the kids turn to teenagers :p

So has anyone got some creepy stories about those dolls lately?

I have only had an imaginary friend once in my game and that was enough for me. Can't stand them. I just hate how they are constant stalkers. Patches or whatever generic name it had loved to follow my sim into the bathroom. I can't count how many times I'd send my sim to the bathroom and the imaginary friend was right behind her. She'd shoo Patches out and he'd stand near the door like a creeper waiting for her to come out. I know one time on a hot summer day I found my sim lounging in the pool and Patches was swimming right next to her. I was like what is Patches doing in the pool? My sim spent a little too much time talking with Patches and not enough with her sisters. The only good thing that the imaginary friend does is clean the house imo.

@Enless‌ They clean the house? Wow, that never happened to my sim families...
I totally agree that they are extra creepy in bathrooms. I locked the door except for the family members but the doll just teleported in. So. not. cool!

I don't have any creepy stories but to answer your other question I've found the doll turned human is usually pretty attractive. In several of my games the doll and e child they were given to ended up as a couple. It made some interesting stories.

@moonandsixpens Yep. Just tell them to clean up. It teleported in? Oh my. That's just too much.

only had an imaginary friend once and it kinda freaked me out it really just followed my child sim around and when she aged into a teenage it still did follow her everywhere and stand there creeping. always stopping her at whatever she was doing to chat. I think her friend was male and had a huge creepy crush on her I couldnt handle it so I got rid of him so fast. plus all his constant warping instead of using doors lagged my game hardcore

I didn't particularly care for the IMs. They are handy if you only have a single child, but after that I find them a pain. With 3 or 4 toddlers all singing to their IMs at the same time, it gets very horror-film creepy to me.

Before I got a mod to prevent them being sent to my sims, I had an insane child eventually marry his IM; it seemed appropriate. Here is one of the rather creepier moments:

The IM just stood there, staring at my sim as he played video games with his brothers as if to say, "Yes, I'm in your way! Doesn't matter, you should only be paying attention to me!"

As soon as my sim baby gets one in the mail, I immediately drag it to the floor and shift/delete it (with TCE on). I really dislike those annoying things.

If both dolls of my sims kids' turn out good looking I am going to have the dolls marry each other so that their imaginary friend kids are going to have their own imaginary friends :p

That indeed is a very disturbing picture lol

I hate these things, creepy beyond words. All my babies seem to end up being sent one, which immediately gets dumped into the parents inventory. Sometimes on ageing up they reappear though, it's like they have a mind of their own.
Really glad to hear there is a mod to stop them!
My worst experience was seeing one in the neighbourhood, just stood across the road from my sims house. It had turned into a sim, but still had the little orb above it's head and still walked like a ragdoll. Horrible.

I agree they are super creepy and annoying. They are great for entertaining toddlers and kids if you keep them in their inventories though. I always keep them in the kids inventory and only let them out if I plan on having the kid marry them.

I hate those things, they're so creepy. I had one, Wiggles, I don't remember everything he did but he was one creepy little freak. I do remember he watched the sim he belonged to woohoo with his partner. The little creeper had just been in the sims inventory since from birth until YA and I hadn't realized until shortly before that he'd ever become real at all. I also remember he like glitched out big time (I think because he came to life later than designed to it messed things up) and he took one of my sims kids down with him, like they'd been interacting (because despite not being real suddenly everybody could see him like he was) and they both disappeared.

Then my sims also had more dolls than sims in the house. I decided to get rid of them all, and being as weird as I am I was going to burn them. I didn't know that those freaky things won't burn. So I had like 8 or something dolls just standing in these flames, they had some like creepy looking war formation going on too, like they were about to storm the house and kill everybody in it. Then that freak wiggles actually got up and walked away.

Now I just delete them. I hate them, they're so creepy. Imma have nightmares now after thinking about them, just in time for bed too, yay. :s

I like my sims having them. But I don't often play with sims that have them so they are a novelty when there are in the game. I just put them into my child/baby sim's inventories and try to forget about them. They do get a bit annoying when the toddler or child wants to sing to it all the time though.

I like them. Mine usually turn out pretty. And I like playing them when they're turned, and making them turn to doll form and back again, or have them walk like an IF... :)

This is my latest IF turned Sim. You can't see it very well in the picture, but her hair has green highlights. :)

I usually just buy a stuffed bear and put it in the baby's inventory. The bear serves the purpose of entertaining the kid so much better. The kid will have positive moodlets about the bear when it turn toddler and child. It will play with the bear in a *reasonable* frequency, unlike it does with the IF. :D

That's an army of horror lol. I actually have the plan to burn the IF and see what happens, but I am going to do that when it is in its doll form. I discovered that when I have my sim kid to tell it to "leave me alone" it will get angry and return to doll form and leave my kid alone until the kid apologize. Other than that they just won't back off, not even the "give me a break" (not sure those are the exact words) interaction is enough. And one time after my kid asked for a break it went straight to the mom's room when she was sleeping, and it just sat on the chair facing the fireplace... That was so inappropriate! Why couldn't it just go to the study and read a book or something, like a normal person!

I go all the way and add a bear for the mood let plus leave the doll in the inventory too.

I don't play families often so I just let it all happen to see what eventuates.

Imaginary friends!? I just bought this expansion and World Adventures. What else do I have to look forwards to appearing in my game?

Well you can have wedding parties and bachelor parties, read bedtime story to kids, etc.

I find them okay, they do glitch a bit though at my sims birthdays after child stage, the household has a glitched action on the que to celebrate the IM growing, when only the child should have the action. it doesnt happen alot now though. I don't really like how it takes ages to be able to make the potion to humanise them. I understand how simmers think they're creepy, but I think there good. At least when you want them lol!

I had a family once with a husband and wife and 2 girls. Man I regret trying to make my imaginary friend alive once he came alive. I was so creeped out because once It was night time and everyone was asleep and the imaginary friend appeared in someones room and just stared at them all night then disappeared in the morning I ended deleting the imaginary friend. :s
