The Loner Trait..?

I made a Sim with loner trait because I wanted him to write books and work in garden, but his Social need is constantly down, so I don't know if it is a Bug or supposed to be like that? But that can't be right? If you like to be alone, you don't need to talk with others every day.. anyone else noticed this..?

Loners do need some form of social interaction. Talking real life of course. It doesn't necessarily mean you despise all forms of interaction with others. I imagine that the social needs would only decay slower than others. If they're not decaying slowly then I assume it'd be a bug.

Well as a loner IRL, even I crave some social interaction. Thankfully living with others in student accomodation makes for an easy way around that. That and having loads of board games...
But anyway, it's probably a pain to sort out social need for loners... ironically... but on the plus side it seems to decay and matter much less, so you only need to suffer from human interaction for a limited time.

Start him on a garden so he can talk to the plants. That will help his social if you don't want him talking to people.
Dissatisfied with Sims 4 and hoping for a better Sims 5

What I've noticed with my loners is that they get tense if they are around too many people, especially people they do not know well. The get a happy buff when they are alone, but they do still need some interaction. Fortunately, most of my loners are insane, so they can talk to themselves to boost their social.

Only have them talk/be on a lot with one or two sims at a time. The better your sim gets to know these sims, they will be able to hang out with more people without becoming nervous. Texting and calling don't give the tense moodlet, which is a nice way to keep them sane.
I actually love playing with the loner trait. I feel like it's one of those traits that actually give a lot of personality to my sims.
You can call me Sanne if you like. I really dislike my username.

I just get my loner Sims to make brief acquaintances with a few people, and then just get them to call or text them. They can live a hermit lifestyle whilst still maintaining some sort of socialisation.

Thanks for the comments, It just felt like his social need went faster down then other sims, did not expected that, thought he would be "Happy alone" ;-) Brief acquaintances seems like a good idea, I have to try that, sins there is no dogs :p (like I have in Real Life)

Yes I've always thought the loner trait was so pointless since it doesn't decrease the need for social activity. Certainly loner people in real life need social interaction BUT not as much as other people. So I wish the trait would've reflected that but it actually only had a negative consequence (making the sim deathly afraid of strangers :expressionless: )

You don't need to talk to anyone. Loners don't receive negative moodlets for having a low Social need. You can let the need go all the way to full red without any impact. That means you don't need to socialize until it's convenient.
