Obviously my opinion of Sims 3 is pretty low, and my opinion of its expansions is equally low. I love Sims 2, but its expansions were mostly only okay to me with the exception of Nightlife (which far exceeded my expectations at the time, partially thanks to the introduction of turn-ons and offs) and Seasons, while I was actually really disappointed by Pets (particularly by how stray animals show up at your house all hours of the day, very annoying). Also, for me, while OFB was okay, Ambitions may be the only thing I felt Sims 3 did right. Also, also, by the time Showtime was announced, EA had burnt the last of whatever good will I had remaining for the Sims 3, which was already a huge disappointment in comparison to Sims 2. The fact that Seasons is the eighth expansion for Sims 3 instead of one of the first four or five? INEXCUSABLE. For grins, my score for Sims 4 would be 6 with the 2 content patches (ghosts and pools) and 5 without. Good, but nowhere close to achieving Sims 2's greatness yet.
The winner: Sims 2.
