      I've looked into this, and I think I would be capable of doing so, but it would be a TON of work. The object textures are referenced through their models, so even to just make a simple recolor, you'd have to clone not only the object and object catalog files, but every file they refer to, and the files that they refer to as well. Tool makers are working on this, hopefully it will be doable very soon.
