for those of you who have ambitions, uni, and IP here is a sure fire way to make money relatively fast so you can get your resorts going
1)buy a sculpting station or 3
2)make sculptures as your primary source of income
3)buy a scraptronic inventing bench and use money from sculpting to buy scrap by the truckloads
4)work on inventing until you create a miner
5)mine until you find some tiberium gems(1 is enough)
6)buy science station and get science to level 9 or max
7)clone tiberium
8 )use gem cutter to make dust
9)place 25 dust on ground and let grow, will take a day or two
10)sell and you can have easily 900 k to a million within a few days
not a single cheat needs to be used to do this

Yep! Apparently the tiberium will grow no matter what form it is in. I've used this method for a long time to make tons of money. Want to make it even more? Sell the grown tiberium to the elixir shop! I get around $70k for each piece of tiberium sold. And if your sim is a gatherer, you will get at least 3 pieces of gem dust with each cutting. That's $280k from a single raw tiberium!
If you have WA, learn the martial arts skill then work on it till you can break oak boards easily (without hurting your hand); after you break 150 oak boards you can break space rock blocks and sometimes get gems including tiberium. I've gotten close to 300K from a single tiberium gem after cutting and "planting" the dust. (It's also a good way to get the pink diamond needed to do the heart cut for the Simbot or the rainbow gem to turn an Imaginary Friend doll real.)

I think the point is to get the money to upgrade your resorts fast. 8) And you need four additional packs -- WA for the tiberium (didn't realize it came from that pack), Ambitions for sculpting/inventing (you don't even absolutely need the sculpting -- you can get lots of scrap for free if you visit the junkyard), gem cutting machine from Supernatural and science machine from University Life. (I need to get my Sim better at science -- none of them have hit the cloning level yet.)

Lol yeah sorry. I realized I came off a bit mean. Just trying to help refine your advice.
I do support just learning simfu and breaking the space rocks. If you get the strength training achievement for athletic (so you never get fatigued during strength workouts) and the timber terminator achievement for simfu you can easily live off the gems you get from breaking space rocks. While still doing the cloning trick from university.
Also if you have pets just get a dog and turn him into a collecting slave mwahaha. Every new family I start has a dog. All he does is sniff out collectables. Once you get the alpha pet lifetime reward they get tiberium fairly regular. I think that reward costs 7500 for the dogs, which can be annoying to get.
If you have dragon valley, buy dragon eggs. They cost 395 you talk to it once to start it hatching, 6 hours later it hatches and you can instantly sell the baby dragon for 1000. Thats 600 profit on each egg. I dont think buy mode has anything else that turns a profit like that for so little work. This tip will not rake in the money like tiberium but is a good way to get a bit ahead early game while your sims are poor.
Thank you for posting this! I never knew. I'm going to try this!
Happy Simming!
Aughghghgh!!! How stupid am I?
My sims find tiberium rocks fairly frequently and grow the dust and spires. They also use the consignment stores to sell stuff all the time, but did it ever occur to me to sell the mature spires there - knowing full well how much more they get from platinum bars there, etc.???? No.
I could kick myself! Thanks for the tip. I will go have a good cry now and feel better soon.
Think i will start a new island paradise game with with a painter/resort owner or painter/life guard So far i've just used sims who already had money so i could learn the new features. But now its time to play!!
