It won't open

I played the sims 3 yesterday and everything was working fine. Now when I press open, it can't open. I have it on a windows 8. Help please?

first do u change anything from when it last worked?
also try bypassing the launcher..this link is for older windows but this should still apply with some perhaps tweaking of steps
