My son changed jobs very recently, going from the night-shift to a day shift at a different company altogether. That leaves me babysitting his little son, who just began Kindergarten this year. Since it's been a good 27 years that I've done the back and forth to school; drop off and pick up again, thing; I had all but forgotten just how the half-day of kindergarten can really shred a day.
It's been very hard these past two full weeks, to say the least. It's getting really cold where we live and I've had to readjust how I do things. (For instance, I no longer wash my hair on Monday morning, because it's very long, very thick and I don't normally like to blow it dry because it causes split ends.) So, I've had to get creative. Not only that, but I managed to come down with a cold last Friday. Getting up and going was monstrous.
I don't have a great deal of energy since my head exploded (something others have had to deal with after a 'stroke' and what I experienced is considered the 'mother of all strokes' [ruptured brain aneurysm] ). I'm grateful to be alive, but this schedule is killing me.
So, learning that today is a very short week has me all kinds of happy. I stayed home all weekend long, to rest and try to feel better from this cold and it seems to have helped. While still sick, at least it wasn't a misery just trying to get up and get going today. Not only that, but learning that this week is even shorter than I originally expected (normally Thanksgiving is a four-day weekend, starting with Thursday) I was very excited to learn, this week is ultra-short. He goes today and tomorrow, only. And tomorrow, he gets out early. After that, his mother is supposed to take him.
This mini vacation couldn't come at a better time for me. Yay! Doing a happy dance.
Thank you, I just had to get that off of my chest.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here (being a non-American) but tentatively this week, my company is switching to a different office building. So that means we won't go to work on Thursday and Friday, and we'll work from home instead. Not exactly a huge break, but at least we have the option to choose where to work. Maybe even in bed without pants. I might visit my old professors in college and work in the lab I did my thesis project in.

I have to say, the soup is working its magic on me. While I'm not 'well', I do feel better enough to keep slogging forward. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Americans. Watch yourselves on the roads, should you be traveling, and don't overeat and cause yourself a heart-attack.
Thank you all for your responses. Happy Simming!
