Agreed. I would have started Luna as a toddler but sadly they still aren't in Sims 4 though hopefully by the next expansion they will be added.

In my experience get to work is far better simply because there is more depth to the careers. Sure there are only 3 careers but those careers are more fleshed out than any of ambitions.
