So, with the Expansions & Stuff tab in the launcher...

...That basically means that for some saves, I could have Showtime for example, active; while in other saves I could uncheck it so that it's not included in that game save's stuff?

With exception of how it was mentioned to me by @Simasaurus09 , of how the launcher likes to uncheck tabs (Yikes! I'll be double checking each time I load the game up!), that could actually be a really cool feature for players like me, whom don't have computers capable of running all the expansions (and who knows how much CC and store content on top of that!), all at once. Like, again with Showtime as an example, I had uninstalled it back when I had the game installed before, because I didn't much care for it after the initial "shiny" had worn off, and to get rid of some of the lag and all in my game. But now, with the Expansions & Stuff tab, I could have one game file where I WOULD have it in the game, to play a singer or something...And I can think of other great options this now allows, too.

Pretty cool, in my opinion! B)

Yes, it's optional what packs you want to play the game with. Just be careful about your ongoing saves.

Example: Starting a save in Starlight Shores and then later unchecking Showtime... You won't be able to play that save until you enable the pack again because of the world.
Example: Having a cat in the household and then later unchecking Pets.... This would cause problems.

If you have a couch from one of the packs and then later uncheck that pack, the game will replace it with either base game content or remove it. It's more of a worry when you're missing a world or a big feature like pets that used to be in place. Missing clothing and furniture are fine.

The tricky thing there as you accumulate more than one or two different ongoing games is keeping track of which saved games require which EPs. Origin and the Launcher do not offer any way to indicate this. Some players work some kind of codes into their saved game names (e.g., SmithSimsWAPetsNoShowtime) but that gets cumbersome as well after a while. Others manage to keep track on a spreadsheet or text document...oh okay, or they just write it down on a piece of paper, off to the side. :)
