As someone with first hand expirence having something they were so eager for be Ceased And Decist multiple times (Also TSO revivals) the current one (Project Dollhouse) mentioned basically rebuilding game up and being an entirely different engine in a way so they aren't commiting plagarism.
The Sims Online runs on the original Sims Engine so it does basically use the same graphics engine and no detailed CAS. So it is quite old being around 12-13 years.

it ISs not Freeplay but instead THE original Sims Online (Name it donned before it became EA Land months before shutdown)
