Hello ^_^, this challenge sounds really fun. I do have one question though, I don't play the Sims 4 all that much. Could this challenge be adapted for the Sims 3? I play that more often (limited internet connection helps with offline play). I am interested but not sure how to adapt it for TS3 if it can be done at all. Can you help?

    @ElijahsBabyGurl9

It's been a bit since I've played Sims 3, but I think it could definitely be adapted for it. I'd love some help or to help you do that if you're interested. :)

@DeadlyFang I've been examining your criteria for the challenge and came up with the following adaptations for The Sims 3 as well as a bit of background on each zodiac for challenge players:

--ADAPTATION CONSIDERATIONS FOR CHINESE ZODIAC CHALLENGE THE SIMS 3 VERSION--
(Will need pre-approval by DeadlyFang) ~Could also be turned into 10+Generations Legacy~

I provided a little background information on each Zodiac so that players will have some idea on how to create their Sims to match. Hope it helps Simmers who decide to take on this challenge.

    The Rat
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Rat: Ambitious, intelligent, persuasive, sociable, charming, god like, charismatic, shrewd, industrious, meticulous, tenacious, artistic, eloquent. Have keen observation skills and with those skills they’re able to deduce much about other people and other situations. Overall, Rats are full of energy, talkative and charming but they have a tendency to become aggressive. Rats focus on titles because titles translate into status and money; two motivating forces. Rats make excellent bosses. Routine halts their creativity so Rats need flexible positions that allow creativity. Good career choices include: administrator, director, writer, musician, politician. Rats are very charming. They enjoy social activities and because they’re out a lot, they’re always meeting new people. They aren’t good at breaking off relationships however, and this presents problems going forward with new relationships.~
You start out as a poor but quick-witted individual who has eyes for riches.
    • Start the game with low funds, and a very cheap house
    • Join the business career, CEO track
    • Have Ambitious & Schmoozer traits
    • Marry for status instead of love, find a high profile or celebrity mate
    • Have four potential heirs, Deciding on one Male to take over family home and business
    • Max out Charismatic, Social Networking, and

    The Ox
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Ox: Dependability, strength and determination. Believe that the road to success involves hard work; they don’t believe in taking shortcuts. Are driven but not very sociable. Love is a hard commodity for Oxen...~

~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Tiger: Bravery, competitiveness and unpredictability. Loves to be challenged and will accept any challenge if it means protecting a loved one or protecting their honor. Born to lead, very intelligent and always on alert. Are very charming and are well-liked by others. They are not motivated by money or power. Have a continual need to be challenged, they jump from job to job. • Partner has a job, reaches max level of that career (player can choose career for partner)

    The Dragon
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Dragon: Dominance and ambition. They’re driven, unafraid of challenges, and willing to take risks. Dragons prefer to be alone and are most successful when working alone. {a Self-Employed career goes well here!} Dragons have tempers that can flare fast! Dragons prefer leading to being led. Jobs that allow them to express their creativity are good choices some good careers include: inventor, sculptor, painter, anything in fashion, teacher and jobs in politics or law. Dragons will give into love, but won’t give up their independence. Because they have quick, sometimes vengeful tempers, their partners need to be tough-skinned. Dragons enjoy others who are intriguing, and when they find the right partner, they’ll usually commit to that person for life.~
Your home life was too perfect! You now feel the need to act out and explore all your options.

    The Snake
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Snake: Intelligence, gracefulness and materialism. When it comes to decision-making, Snakes are extremely analytical and they don’t jump into situations. They are effective at getting the things they want, even if it means they have to scheme and plot along the way. Snakes are very materialistic creatures, preferring to surround themselves with the finest that life has to offer. This is especially evident in the home, where luxurious furnishings and surroundings help Snakes seek the peace they need in order to thrive. Snakes are excellent seducers they never have trouble attracting others but they’ll be the ones to decide when a relationship has potential or not. Once they’ve chosen a partner, Snakes guards their chosen partners much like a prized possessions, becoming jealous and even obsessive. Snakes prefer to keep their feelings to themselves.~

Horses enjoy positions in which they can interact with others. They’re effective communicators and they enjoy power. Good career choices for Horses include: journalist, bartender, performer, teacher or politician. Horses, being spontaneous, have a tendency to fall fast and hard for others. They tend to give themselves fully in each new relationship a quality that ends up chipping away at their inner being. Fortunately, this exhausting trait mellows with age and relationships are stronger and more stable later in life.~
The complete opposite of the parent you are the life of the party and don’t love anything more than being with people.
    • Have at least three close friends

    The Goat
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Goat: Creativity, intelligence, dependability, and calmness. Comfortable being alone to ponder the workings of their inner minds, Goats enjoy being part of a group, but prefer the sidelines rather than the center. Their nurturing personality makes Goats excellent parents. They’re quiet and reserved and tend to spend much time absorbed in their thoughts. Home is where Goats feel most comfortable. They can express themselves artistically, whether it’s by painting, cooking or participating in whatever artistic endeavors they enjoy. Goats prefer the couch because there they can relax and explore their minds. They don’t need elaborate furnishings; only items reflecting their desire for art, so lots of paintings and sculptures. Goats tend to be private, so it can take effort to get to know one. The Goat is the one who will decide when and with whom it will share its personal life. As a result, most Goats have few close friends, yet they’ll work hard for those they love. Good career choices for Goats include: interior designer, daycare teacher, actor, hair stylist, illustrator, musician, and artist.~
You were always the quiet kid with the endless imagination. All of your parents activities makes you hesitant when it comes to life.
    • Have Artistic, Brooding, and Bookworm traits, others up to player (Couch potato is a good one as well as Natural Cook).
    • Join Painter or Writer Career
    • Have one good friend (besides relatives) through childhood and beyond
    • Marry childhood friend, have at least 2 children
    • Have a LTW associated with either Writing, Sculpting or Painting

    The Monkey
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Monkey: Curiosity, mischievousness, and cleverness. Forever playful, Monkeys are the masters of practical jokes. Even though their intentions are always good, this desire to be a prankster has a tendency to create ill will and hurt feelings. Monkeys thrive on being challenged. Monkeys prefer urban life to rural, and their favorite pastime is people-watching. When it comes to work, Monkeys can do just about anything. They adapt well to changing environments and they’re very intelligent. They work quickly, but they’ll frequently charge double for their services. Good career fields for Monkeys are accounting and banking. Other good careers for Monkeys include: scientist, film director, and Acrobat. When it comes to relationships, Monkeys aren’t quick to settle down. In fact, they generally are promiscuous; a tendency that probably has to do with the fact that Monkeys are easily bored. Monkeys will end this type of behavior once they pair up with the perfect partner. In fact, more often than not, they’ll commit to that person in every way for life.~
You ignored your parents horrible marriage by taking refuge in jokes and mischief. You’re not sure you believe in love.
    • Have Commitment Issues and Rebellious traits, other traits to consider are Evil, Daredevil, and Inappropriate.
    • Join the Criminal Career
    • Have Emperor of Evil LTW
    • Have two good friends
    • Do not marry
    • Have at least one child with the insane trait that is not heir (can be adopted)

    The Rooster
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Rooster: Confidence, pompousness and motivation. Roosters are loyal, trustworthy individuals who are blunt when it comes to offering their opinions. Their bluntness stems not from being mean but from being honest; a trait which Roosters expect from others. Roosters are extremely sociable and prefer being the center of attention, always bragging about themselves and their accomplishments. They continually seek the unwavering attention of others which can be annoying. Roosters are as proud of their homes as they are of themselves. They’re extremely organized individuals as evidenced by the fact that their homes are always neat. Roosters are highly motivated and hard-working; traits that enable most Roosters to have successful careers. Roosters make good actors, musicians and dancers. Roosters also do well in the armed forces. The Rooster’s bossiness and honest “tell it like it is” approach doesn’t work well with sensitive individuals. Roosters need to partner with those who are tough-skinned. They’re the individuals most capable of realizing that beneath the tough exteriors are huge, caring hearts overflowing with love.~
You do not want to be mediocre your whole life like your parent was. You strive for the best.
    • Have Brave and Social Butterfly trait
    • Reach level 10 in career of choice
    • Have at least one enemy
    • Be close with your insane sibling
    • Marry Coworker, have 2 children
    • Be strict with your children. (IE can’t leave house outside of school and have good grades.)

    The Dog
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Dog: Loyalty, compatibility and kindness. Dogs frequently offer kind words and useful advice, always listening and lending a shoulder when necessary. Dogs often become deeply involved in others’ lives and are sometimes perceived as nosy. Ensuring others are happy is more important to the Dog than wealth, money or success. Dogs are determined individuals; always wanting to master a new subject before moving on and always finishing what they start. Dogs value friendships; they’re loyal, honest, trustworthy and reliable and have strong morals and ethics. A well-kept, organized home is very important. Keeping a clean home and helping at work stems from the Dog’s need to be active and involved. Dogs spend money wisely, passing on luxury goods in favor of practical items. Dogs also prefer saving money to cover future expenses. Dogs at times can also be temperamental, narrow-minded and stubborn. When this happens, the Dog takes off alone in order to make things right again inside its head. Dogs can benefit by learning to relax and being more rational. Coworkers can always count on Dogs to help out, especially if it means the Dog will learn something new or alleviate the workload of others. Dogs are seen as valuable employees. Good career choices for Dogs include: police officer, scientist, interior designer, politician, nurse, and teacher.~
You don’t want to live your life focused on your career. You want to be a good person and find that one true love.
    • Join Secret Agent or Detective career
    • Have a childhood friend
    • Start romantic relationship/marry childhood friend upon adulthood.
    • Have Brave, Hopeless Romantic, and Ambitious traits (Dog Lover is very appropriate for this Sim)
    • Have two eligible heirs
    • Adopt a child as well
    • Reach level 10 of chosen career
    • Remain faithful to spouse but can choose to remarry after spouse passes

    The Pig
~Positive Traits for people born in the Year of the Pig: Diligence, compassion, and generosity. Pigs enjoy life and because they are entertaining, others enjoy their company. Pigs are giving souls and reap much enjoyment when they’re helping others, but sometimes they give too much. Honesty is what Pigs give and it’s what they expect to receive in return. Pigs seek peace and will do what is necessary to maintain it. This trait, while admirable, sometimes makes it easy for others to take advantage of Pigs. Pigs are always doing for others, helping anyway they can, but rarely will they ask others for help. This can overwhelm and stress them, but Pigs don’t mind. When it comes to money, Pigs enjoy spending more than saving. They gravitate towards luxury items. Thriftiness happens only occasionally, but Pigs do know how to find great deals. Pigs enjoy helping at work and can always be counted on. They enjoy opportunities that allow them to express their creativity. Pigs are detail-oriented, a trait admired by management. Pigs aren’t afraid to take on responsibility. Some good career choices for Pigs include: entertainer, doctor, or interior decorator. They’d do well in business or journalism. Supportive and giving, Pigs make great partners. They’re affectionate and prefer staying home to going out. They enjoy what they have, especially their home and family. Once they find the right partner, they’re typically committed for the long-term.~
Your parents fell in love and you grew up seeing the best in people and the world.
    • Have two relationships not work out before finding the one
    • Have good trait
    • Join Doctor, Journalism, or CEO Career
    • Marry someone poor
    • Have 3 children all with Good and Friendly traits
    • Retire with more than $50,000 Simoleans as savings.

Other adaptations can be made depending on the playing style of the Simmer <3

Question: Do you start the challenge with The Rat and work your way through the Zodiac through his /her descendants? If so, does each child have the potential to be the next Zodiac animal or can you have the Rat's four children be the Ox, the Tiger, the Rabbit and the Dragon and go from there?

    @ElijahsBabyGurl9
Everything looks great. My only question with your variation is for the rat if they don't have a male to take over should they keep having children until they get a male or pick a female to take over?

    @Alorxico
What a great question! I was thinking of it as each generation is a single zodiac sign. If you want to make a twist on it and have the four children of the Rat be the Ox, the Tiger, The Rabbit, and the Dragon I think it could be interesting too though.

@DeadlyFang, I loved your video your Sim looks great. Regarding your question, if all four children born are female, then the child with the 'strongest' traits (like being born with Charismatic and Ambitious for example) would be selected to be the next gen heir.
