Gallery content to game

I've been downloading lots and sims from the gallery and have a few questions
1- where do these downloads save to
2- when I go to click in the lower right hand corner to add the content to my game it is greyed out and a message pops up saying that the content cannot be added to my game.
What am I doing wrong?
