I am going to walk you through how to make a raised skylight in your builds.
First we have ourselves a nice empty lot like this.
Next build yourself an octagonal room, a square or rectangular one will work fine also. Do not makie it too large as it will become harder to work with the larger it gets.
Make sure auto-roof is off and put flooring over it.
Delete the section you want to make the skylight.
Place fencing around your deleted section, and put fencing through the middle if you wish.
Now this part is VERY important: So pay attention. Make a diagonal fence line from the corners.
Now put fencing in-between the corners like so.
Now open the cheat box with ctrl+shift+C and type in "constrainfloorelevation false" without the quotes. Now go down a floor and using the medium square do anywhere from 2-5 clicks, depending on how high you want your raised skylight. You should get something like this.
Now put fencing around the base line of your raised fencing, like I have done.
Start deleting the sloped floor tiles.
There you go! You can use your raised skylights in many ways.
You can use it in your ultra-modern homes, in a space alien base, or make a lovely gazebo like I used in Palmwood Community Gardens, available at my page. I hope this helped, and have great time simming!
