Blazeburg - Update 8/17/2023 Its finished download now! Optional Saved Game File!

Blazeburg is a big city in a region infamous for its forest fires. Besides that, it is not a bad place to live. Crime is low for a city of its size, of course there are still criminals there, but they probably won't be your biggest problem. The map includes some additional lots, by CJplays.

Here's an updated image of the world now that it is finished

    For some reason it only lists some of the store objects I used on the exchange page, so go by this my list posted here instead.

    Don't forget to move the saved game file out of the zip folder and to your saves folder, and make sure the current version of Blazeburg is installed or it won't work. It doesn't matter if you download it via MedieFire or the Exchange. If you see a white question mark with a black background, it is not the most up to date version of Blazeburg and the official Blazeburg Story, saved game file won't work

    Oh I forgot. Here are some of the earlier version of some of CJ's lots if you would prefer them. I'm not bothering with his Luxury Starter or his Blazing Heights Resort. The first one I didn't make any real changes to besides the description and the second one, the only real changes I made with the latter for the most part were to fix routing issues. The dog park also is not included in this list, because there are practically no differences between it and the version currently on the map

    The Original Version of his Spooky Farmhouse used Movie Stuff, I really liked it, but I had to ask him to change it because I decided early on that the map would not use that pack

    There really aren't many changes I made to Blazeburg Brownstone that CJ didn't ask me to make. There won't be many differences between this version and the one that's currently on the map

    Keep in mind, if you're playing with my saved game file and the house is inhabited, you will have to remove the household and place them back on the lot after replacing it with the older version. Also, the lot descriptions may not be included in the earlier versions due to an annoying bug, so you may have to rewrite them

    Thanks @texansky! Hope you enjoy Blazeburg. I worked very hard on it. I should get back to play testing it myself in about a week or two from now. In the meantime, if you or anyone else finds anything wrong with it, or has any suggestions, please let me know.

    I'm going to start play testing and editing Blazeburg again some time around early June. I am in desperate need for more play testers. So far only one other person has downloaded the world for play testing and I feel like I still need to give CJ a bit more time. In the meantime, you can checkout his youtube channel. He's a great Youtube Simmer and he has done some incredible builds in the past

    I'm missing IP and ITF as well as most of the stuff packs right now. I've ordered them all from eBay and they will be arriving over the coming week.

    As a result, I haven't installed your world yet. As soon as I have everything installed, I will put Blazeburg in my Sims 3 folder and check it out.

    I've already downloaded it to my laptop.

    @Damienf519 I decided to playtest your world, but just know that I am doing it without ITF, SN and Town Life Stuff. I also don't have store stuff installed on this machine, so interiors are probably not looking the way you originally designed, and some lots are bare-looking for this reason. I'll post a pic to show what it looks like to someone who doesn't have these packs and store items:

    I love the Skyview Bistro (reminds me of a casino-style venue), but I think the interiors need punching up to make it feel glamorous. Also, there's a curtain that matches the windows that would be perfect for it. The one right now is the right style, but mismatched, IMO. I don't remember the name, but it's the one that looks like it's covered in cream-colored damask.

    I have to say that I really like the layout of this world. The only thing that's killing me is the lack of trees and rocks, but then again, I don't know if it's because I'm missing ITF, SN and TLS. I think that landscaping, more than anything, is what really makes a world pop. A person can have the perfect layout and decorated lots, but there's something about the lack of landscaping that makes a world feel unfinished.

    You gave some pretty good feedback.

    You probably shouldn't be playing testing it without those packs through.

    Perhaps I could try to find a better wall texture for The Skyview Bistro. Other than that you might be getting the wrong impression of the place because you're missing some of the packs. The Skyview Bistro in that picture has the wrong curtains and you may be missing some of the pictures on the wall because you don't have Supernatural installed. Without Into the Future, you won't get any of the waiters that come with those food synthesizers when they're placed on a community lot. Its really cool by the way, because it lets you set up a restaurant without needed to buy that Business as Usual Bistro from the Sims 3 store, and unlike the waiters that come with that store set, the Into the Future Waiters will even serve children.

    As for the apartment, that one is supposed to be kind of bare because it's basically a starter home, although I think one of the lights might have gotten replaced because you didn't have Fast Lane Stuff installed, but I'm not sure, since I don't remember everything I did with everything single lot. I will have to take a look at that lot again. My memory is not perfect.

    Edit, also, I forgot to mention this earlier, but you might also not be noticing some of the landscaping for some of the lots because I used some of the plants from Supernatural, which as you pointed out earlier you don't have. That said, I think I could probably still improve the landscaping somewhat.

    I have everything installed from disk now except the Movie stuff pack, so I will be checking it out when I get home tonight.

    The second beta should be coming soon. Please let me know if you find anything wrong with the world that needs fixing, or anything you would like me to change. I am currently working on the first official saved game file. Soon after its done, I will release the second Beta. In the meantime, if you are one of my play tester, please get back to me soon

    Sorry that I took so long to get back to you on my testing of Blazeburg. Here are my findings thus far.

    I have tested all of the homes in the world. Since the homes don't have street addresses, I used the locations of the N, S, E, and W downtown apartments and grouped the homes by their direction from downtown:

    DOWNTOWN:
    • Lands End Flats - no issues found
    • Tall and Narrow Apt - (1)
    • Red Son Rentals - (2)
    • Urban Beach Luxury E - no issues found
    • Urban Beach Luxury W - no issues found
    • Lowrise Hirise S - (3)
    • Lowrise Hirise N - no issues found

    HOUSEBOATS:
    • Peanut Butter Jelly 1 Studio - no issues found
    • Deep Blue Sea - no issues found
    • HMS Science - (4)
    • Fancy Little Boat - no issues found
    • Minty Fresh 1 Studio - no issues found

    WEST SIDE OF TOWN:
    • Off the Scales - no issues found

    • Dry Leaves - no issues found

    FOOTNOTE DETAILS:
    1. Tall and Narrow Apt - When moving a Sim there from another property or returning home from elsewhere, the Sim goes halfway around the left side of the building, then comes back and goes in the door on the street side which takes them into an unfinished area downstairs. To get to the elevators, Sims need to use the side entrance. The side door does appear to be set as the front door. I'm not sure why this is happening. Maybe try putting a do not enter marker in that section?
    2. While at Red Son Rentals, a burglar came up in the elevator and walked right in. They did not sneak. They played with the skeleton and left, going into their apartment across the hall. I don't play with apartments, so I don't know if this is normal or not. Should other Sims be able to just walk right in?
    3. Lowrise Hirise S: Due to the placement of the computer desk and chair, Sims cannot get into bed on that side of the bed. I would suggest reversing the order of objects. Move the dresser by the window, the bed next to the dresser, and the desk and chair on the other side of the bed by the door.
    4. HMS Science: There is no sink in the kitchen.
    5. Luxury Cabin: Due to the placement of the computer desk and chair, Sims cannot get into bed on that side of the bed. I would suggest reversing the order of objects. Move the desk and chair by the window, the bed next to the desk, and the end table on the other side of the bed by the door.
    6. Mountian Top Vista: spelling should be "Mountain" - I did the same thing in my description of Alryne Valley.
    7. When visiting Literal Horsepower from five of the homes on Lonely Street, my Sim takes the shortest path, which is to run cross country instead of taking the road. I had that issue in Alryne Valley, and I just put in a long hill and painted it as off-limits to Sims.
    8. The Blues Starter: The University Mascot parked his car at the end of the dead end and walked halfway down the block to her house. Whenever a Sim takes a taxi, it picks them up at the end of the street (at the dead end) instead of in front of her home.
    9. Sweet Cookie: If a Sim, visiting or resident, is standing on the property next to the sidewalk, they can't cross the line between the edge of the lot and the sidewalk. They are only able to enter and exit the property from the driveway and to the right of the driveway. Setting the front of the lot to the sidewalk did not resolve this issue.
    10. Charcoal Lemons: If you want Sims to be able to get into the single bed with the blue bedspread from both sides, you will need to swap the desk and chair with the chest of drawers and move the painting to the other side.
    11. Extra Spicy: If you want Sims to be able to get into the single bed with the cowhide bedspread from both sides, you will need to swap the desk and chair with the chest of drawers.

    NOTES AND FEEDBACK:
    To set the front of the lot, while in build/buy mode, hold CTRL-SHIFT and left-click the lot where you want the Sim to enter and exit the lot, then select Set Front of Lot.

    I did not take any of the houseboats out on the water. I am not familiar with the controls as I have never piloted a houseboat before and wasn't sure what to do.

    You have a nice variety of different apartments, homes, and houseboats.

    I like the parking garage with the entrance to the elevators at Red Son Rentals.

    The Peanut Butter Jelly 1 Studio is too remote for my taste. Sims have to run a long way (30 Sim minutes) to a road to take a taxi anywhere.

    I didn't know you could put a video game console on an end table.

    I did find some large space rocks, and some iron ore, so at least a couple of your spawners are working as intended.

    I'm still working my way through the venues.

    The Blazeburg Artisan Library and Vault of Antiquity combo are very well done. The outdoor juice bar on the upper level is a nice touch.

    Limitless Comics looks great. The miniature train set fits well. There is a bookshelf with the skill books, and another with books to read, but nowhere to sit to read them. I get that you don't want Sims reading the comics instead of buying them, so that might be the reason there are no chairs. :smile:

    Thanks for letting me know about those issues that you found. I will do my best to fix them. I probably won't bother making changes so that sims can access both sides of a bed unless they're double beds through, with single beds, as long as they can access one side, I think its okay

    I don't really have any lore involving that display at the museum by the way. I guess you could come up with your own story for it. I'm glad you like it through

    @texansky oh one more thing, I think I fixed the problem with #1. I had noticed that before you even posted this, but didn’t notice it before uploading the first version of the map. It was the fact that there was no hidden room marker in there like there was supposed to be. It should be fixed in the next version. Still thanks for noticing it. I might not have except for the fact that I created a sim for that apartment

    As long as they can get in the single bed, it's not a deal-breaker.

    MORE VENUE NOTES:
    • Creepy's House of Fun: My Sim ordered pumpkin pie and got Stir Fry. The waiter really botched that order. There is a proprietor on the property, so I would assume this is a performance venue.
    • Country Time Pool: Female facilities and everything else tested and works as expected. No candy or soda machine mishaps.
    • Blazeburg Museum: Very well laid out with many interesting displays. I shared a screenshot of the basement display above.
    • Blazeburg Cemetary: spelling should be "Cemetery". My Sim explored the catacombs and found an unknown special seed.
    • Hilltop Academy: A nice little retreat for artists and fitness aficionados. Facilities and equipment tested. The artists' easel was tested by a tourist from France. My Sim did not reach level 2 in martial arts so she was unable to test the board breaker.
    • City Pond: While visiting, my Sim witnessed the magical arrival of the mythical unicorn called Shoshone Horse. And yes, she ignored the no fishing sign but didn't catch anything. When the unicorn is drinking from the pond, a rainbow appears above her.
    • Literal Horsepower: A nice setup for boarding horses and practicing jumping. The wooden pegasus sculpture is stunning.
    • Rustler's Den: Hidden in an old decrepit building, this place would be difficult to find.
    • Petite Pony Equestrian Center: My Sim attended a riding class and purchased a stud named Clark.
    • Psychic Express 🐸🐸🐸🐸 Wagon: None of my Sims have ever had their fortunes told. This was a fun experience. I like that you placed the wagon beneath a nondescript building.
    • Blazeburg Children's Library: The decor is fitting for the young at heart. Female facilities have been tested. There is a cash register inside. Is there supposed to be a merchant selling anything? My Sim waited around all day on a Monday and no one showed up. There isn't an option on the register indicating hours of operation.
    • Fae Ray Arboretum: My Sim was unable to test the playground equipment or the sandbox. She did test the facilities, used the swing set, and harvested the plants. The building is set in lovely surroundings.

    I didn't see anything glaringly obvious. I did turn off the rain, hail, and fog though. The rain never lets up, and the hail is a pain - literally.

    I won't be able to do more testing for at least a week. My hubby and I are going on vacation and we have a lot to do before we leave.

    Don't worry @texansky! You have already helped out a lot, and it will still be awhile before its time to release the final version. I don't know if I can fix the issues with the waiters at Creepy's House of Fun. That is probably a problem with the game and not the venue. I will fix the spelling for the cemetery. As for the Children's library. No. There's not supposed to be a merchant there. The register is that one that came with Ambitions that is just a decoration. I think I put one at the other library as well. I thought about making my libraries function as book stores at one point, but I really need to limit the number of merchants in my worlds. Every single register ( except for the one that comes with the savvy sellers collection ) requires at least one household with an unemployed sim, or an empty, but fully furnished house. Have a large number of those registers in the world and you can run into a problem if you don't have a very large number of sims or a very large number of homes.

    Shouldn't have much trouble finding the Rustler's Den if you have the map tags on by the way. Its a rabbit hole after all.

    I think I pretty much finished creating the Sims for this world, so the second version of Blazeburg, along with the first official saved game file should be released on the 26th. Thank you to everyone who is helping me playtest my world.

    I added a new apartment building, and CJ was able to finish two of his lots in time for the new version. I added some more scenery objects as well as some special effects such as tides. Sorry I had to get rid of the musical instruments at the festival grounds, but sims kept clipping through the equipment. Also, most of the empty land without spawners are now Sim non routable terrain, to force sims to use the roads

    The world has same Requirements as before
    It uses all expansion packs, plus Townlife Stuff and Fastlane Stuff. It also uses store objects from the follow free sets.

    Thanks to @ts1depot I was able to fix the issue with the world not exporting to the Sims 3, so the third beta should now be coming soon. I'll let you guys know when it is released. In the meantime, continue to play test and continue to give me any feed back you might have.

    Oh and I was forgetting, here are what the new trees look like. I didn't add too many of them because you're not supposed to have more than four types of plants in a chunk boundary, but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference performance wise

    Just to let everyone know the final version of Blazeburg is set to be released on August 17th. It will include all seven of CJs lots, and the official saved game file, which will include all of the sims I created for the world so far, plus the graveyard ghosts. Oh and this should almost go without saying, but this version will finally feature the street names and lot addresses.

    In the meantime, keep play testing, and I will delay the release of the final version if necessary, so please let me know if you find anything seriously wrong before than

    Blazeburg is finally here in its final form! Head back to the second post on page one for the download links and description of what you will need to make the world function properly as intended. I also updated the screenshots at the top of the page to represent what the world currently looks like! Hope you guys enjoy it. Thanks for all of your help play testing it!

    You will also find the links to the older, unedited versions of some of CJ's builds there, if you would rather use them instead of the versions that were edited by me.
