Sims Complete collection: resolution and full screen issues

Hi guys I'm having an issue with the different resolutions The Sims offers. First off, the 800x600 resolution works fine and blows up to full screen (I'm on a 1920x1080 display) but everything is really pixelated and stretched. When I try the 1024x768 version, it's this small box that isn't full screen surrounded by black. I would prefer to play the 1024x768 in full screen but don't know how to do it. I've tried changing the screen resolution of my display to 1024x768 but it does nothing. Is there a way to force the 1024x768 to stretch out from edge to edge?
