Change Log: 7/18/21 I've added support for all packs through Cottage Living, and made some quality of life changes to the Stone Age while removing the Outdoor Retreat requirement!
Hi! Sorry for the late reply, hope this is still relevant to you. There's no rules saying your female ancestor can't have kids and continue the family line with Sims other than your male ancestor. You can continue the challenge however you see fit, or restart if you want to do that!
Apologies to all of you here on the forums for neglecting you! I've been busy with IRL stuff the last year and forgot to keep an eye on the forums. I'll answer your questions/suggestions now, hopefully they're still relevant! @Busufu I think there's some builds on the gallery under #historychallenge that you could check…
The "Jam" interaction isn't available until all participating Sims are level 4 in their respective instrument. I *think* you can have different instruments, but if for some reason it doesn't show up then I'd try everyone on the same instrument. If after all that it's still not an option, having them play their instruments…
I haven't restricted San Myshuno or any other worlds because of their aesthetics--I feel like that should be up to the player. The only reason Strangerville and Britechester are restricted is because they have unavoidable gameplay changes if you live/visit there. So if anyone REALLY wanted to get a UFO before rockets, they…
Hey all, so as I'm working on the next update I've been thinking about starting up a Discord server for this challenge! Anyone would be welcome to join, and would be a place for people to ask questions, suggest things, post screenshots/stories of their challenge, and chat. If you're interested in that or think you might…

Hi! I haven't tested the new careers yet, but I'm tentatively thinking Gen 4 for Education, Gen 5 for Law, and Gen 6 for Engineering. Those may change drastically when I see what you're required to do for those careers to advance, but for now that's the general idea. Also, in the Google Doc I recently added a new section…
Thanks for letting me know! I have planned to update this goal in the next update (which will be coming once I've played a bit more with university). The planned changes for the goal are to have the casual difficulty be to catch an anglerfish, and the historian difficulty is to catch one worth at least $150. In my testing…
You need a Sim with level 2 painting skill or higher, then have them do a painting from reference. You're only required to have the heir to the next generation and their parents in the painting, but you can have as many Sims in it as you'd like. There's special allowances for you to move in a Sim to paint your family…
I actually completely forgot about this, but if you want you can start in Sulani--It's one of the recommended starting locations and there's lots of nice tribal CAS stuff from Island Living.
REEEE Sorry, I've not been getting notifications and didn't see your comment until now. Obviously it's been a loooooong time since you asked this, but yes I am planning to update for Moschino, RoM, and University. I was a bit out of the loop for a while but plan to update the challenge for all three of these once…
I'll do some testing on it, and see what I can catch. Hi, and welcome to the challenge! The first time I attempted this challenge, waaaaay back when Cloudseeker was in charge and it was fairly new, I didn't use any mods or CC for it. So it is definitely possible, but in general you're going to be more immersed in the…
Your Sims should gain hygiene from swimming without a mod at all--it only goes up to 50% hygiene, though. You might be looking at an old version of the challenge, as that mod isn't recommended anymore (since it's both not needed and doesn't work anyway), so make sure you're using the most up-to-date rules here. You can…
My apologies for not replying! I check this thread regularly but didn't get a notification for the last few comments for some reason. I'm sure you've made it well past the Prehistoric Era now, but you're correct in that the UFO can only be obtained through a rocketship, at least according to the wiki. I'll do some testing…
The goal to have kids with 5 different Sims is completed by one Sim, so you can do it with whatever Sim you want. Aside from the goal, you're not required to make your Sims have different mates unless you want to. :) The rules of Early Civilization take effect as soon as your ancestor's children have children (in the…
It's definitely possible, but pretty difficult and takes a bit of luck! I know the Sims team did just update fishing, so I'm not sure how that will have impacted catching anglerfish. However, make sure you're fishing with bait--I think you have to use medium sized fish for bait like bass and batfish. Good luck!
A small update for Island Living and its corresponding game patch! Change Log 7/11/19 Patch 1.52 Updates* Added the use of the “Off The Grid” lot trait to the suggestions section for the first four Eras. * Allowed the Fisherman part-time job starting in Early Civilization and onward. * Allowed taking odd jobs starting in…
