Hey guys! So sorry for not checking in for a while. Life is keeping me in a tighter grip than I had ever hoped or planned. I do not know when, or even if, I'll be able to get back to working on this, but in the meantime, I have given @Snowie my permission and blessing to keep releasing her unofficial updates. If and when I…
Only if you don't have the Outdoor Retreat game pack (which is very, very recommended for this challenge). If you have Outdoor Retreat, you should instead use the tents.
@BarbieByMattel @EGrace93 Thank you for all your input and suggestions. I have noted some of them in my update notes document (which is getting rather large, I really need to get back to this soon, but I have so many other projects that take precedence :s).
Thanks for letting me know, must have missed those when I made the scoresheet. The Grilled Cheese aspiration is intentionally not included in the challenge at all, since it's not available to pick directly when creating a Sim, and you're not allowed to change a Sim's aspiration afterwards (at the moment at least, this may…
@xKindredxSoulsx Limiting it is probably too complicated, and also feels like breaking your legs just because you practiced long and hard enough to become a fast runner. I'd say that if you dedicate a Sim to just make high-value woodwork all day, it's all right if you smash the money goal :)
@xKindredxSoulsx Hmm, I have had reports from both sides of the money goal. Some people barely make it, while others just breeze through it. But as you are describing it, it seems to be a couple specific items that rack in the cash. Now, I think taking away woodwork from the sources of income would be too crippling (also…
@EGrace93 Ah, yes. I can see how that could be a confusing sentence. @Snowie I have actually been thinking about creating a CC Collection thread and link to it from this thread. If a lot of people really want me to, I'll see if I can steal some time away from all of the (numerous) other projects I have that need to be…
@EGrace93 Hmm, where do you see the part about traits? All traits should be allowed at all times, only the aspirations are Era-limited, so if I have written otherwise somewhere in the rules, it's a leftover from an earlier version of this challenge. I can't find anything about traits being restricted by Eras though. As for…
@EGrace93 As @xKindredxSoulsx accurately deduced, you are certainly free to modify parts of the challenge to suit you :) @xKindredxSoulsx I would say it's perfectly okay to move in the child, as long as you do it before he or she grows to the Child stage.
@xKindredxSoulsx I think it actually only shuts down your plumbing and electricity if you don't pay the bills, so not paying them during the Prehistoric Era should work fine.
@TheGeekGamez If you want to play strictly by the rules, you need to choose the "Send To Homeworld" option on the baby crib as soon as it is born. If you don't have that option, you may keep the baby.
@Ashes2Ashes Nice, I'll add your video series to the main post, if you don't mind. I like the idea about only being allowed to cook food for which you have the ingredients. I'll note it down in my update notes :)
@Snowie Just off the top of my head, it feels appropriate for nannies to be available from the Middle Ages forward. I don't think there was much call for people taking care of other peoples' children as a profession earlier than that (unless I'm mistaken).
@AlHollandiyah I am quite exctited about it myself, and once the millions of other projects I'm working on are good and done, I'll be able to get right back to working on this challenge :)
@AlHollandiyah The gap will be slightly smaller in the major update I'm planning, where I'm splitting the Prehistoric Era in two. There will still be quite a gap (compared to the gaps between other Eras), though, and there's not much that can be done about that, sadly. The reason there is a big gap is because I designed…
@Zoey95 Very good information, thank you :) I'll be keeping an eye on the playing music for tips goal, I need to know from a few more people how easy they find it before I'll be satisfied with how it is. The house party goal is definitely getting another look at, as I have stated before. The bestseller goal is also one…
The money does not need to come from any specific source. That sounds awesome! If and when you are finished with the scorecard, I'll add it to the main post, if you don't mind, so that people can pick and choose (especially since mine won't be updated until I eventually get back to working on this).
@Snowie Wow, those are some very good ideas and bits of information! :) The anglerfish goal, like the house party goal, seems to be more frustrating than hard for many people, so I might think about lowering the value of it just a little bit. I think I vaguely remember seeing a "complete phone silence" mod somewhere, but…
@MeTime85 You don't need to do both. Storing the collectibles is only to make it easier to complete them (so you don't need to find them all within a single Sim's lifespan). As soon as a collection is marked as "Complete" in any of your Sims' collection tracker, you can make a note wherever you keep track of your score…
@MeTime85 As long as you have at least 10 collections that at any point in the challenge have been listed as Complete in any Sim's collection tracker, the goal is satisfied. To make it easier, you can always store collectibles somewhere (on the lot, in a chest, in your family inventory, wherever you want) so that you can…
@Zoey95 That is awesome that you eventually managed to get the gold medal, congrats! It does really seem though that it is waaay to frustrating to get, so I will see what I can do with that goal when I get back to this project :)
@PixelChampion Paintings are worth so much money that the goal would be completely trivial if they counted, so that's why only rocks, fossils, frogs and woodwork contribute to that goal. Paintings do however count towards the challenge-wide "Earn 250 000 simoleons during a single Era" goal.
@Snowie Very nice! Good that everything is going well :) Whether or not kids play with toys is more of a flavour thing, I think, so I'll leave that up to the judgement of the player. @icecradle When I first designed this challenge, there were no gender restrictions. But, a lot of people wanted there to be restrictions on…
@AlHollandiyah You are not allowed to play households other than you main one, not even temporarily (this is due to how the game simulates inactive households, sometimes resulting in them having done something that wouldn't be possible if you had actively played them).
@ewright9 That's actually a pretty good idea, I like it :) I could even see how it might be possible for someone with modding skills to create an actual hireable painter service, who would come and paint a family portrait. But manually moving in a painter and paying them a commission sounds fine as well. I can't say off…
