@_DelilahsRose_ no…unfortunately that is one thing, I couldn’t really find the strength in me to make a slideshow. I just am really struggling right now. I will try to go back and make a slideshow soon though, you are right, I need to do that

Edit today I have been sleeping a lot and playing acnl but I will make it happen!
All my daily trances, and all my nightly dreams, are where thy grey eye glances, and where thy footstep gleams.
I dance to the beat of my own drum, no matter how measured or far away.
I do love a road. You can always be wondering what is at the end of it.

    BUILD OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM
    CHALLENGE #181 -Winter Designer Showdown
    FORUM ID: AlJay
    ORIGIN ID: AlJay2000
    LEVEL: Just for fun
SIMS 4 LOT NAME: Cypress Terrace in Willow Creek
NEW LOT LINK: The Year of the Dragon
    GALLERY COST: $196,474.00
LINK TO ENTRY SLIDESHOW: Winter Designer Showdown
ENTRY DETAILS: For the Winter Designer Showdown I built on Cypress Terrace in Willow Creek. The winter holiday that I chose to celebrate is the Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the dragon, which represents power, nobility and success. The new year often begins with new resolutions for people. So, those two things led me to design a home for a successful self care specialist. The home has an Asian flair and there are many celebration items and decorations placed throughout the property; such as floating lanterns, red envelopes, plants with red envelopes attached, dragon posts, games, tea, a hot pot, and a board of wishes.

Any ideas for getting blocked when furnishing a house? I'm struggling with the inside. The outside is complete.

Look up images of houses in the same style online. I love https://www.houzz.com for this. Even if I don't copy the exact room, I might get a chair arrangement from one picture, a wall treatment and fireplace idea from another, and a color scheme from a third. Careful though - there are so many beautiful pictures and ideas that you might end up having an even harder time deciding.

Could we maybe have more build challenges? I am in the creative mood. I was kind of forcing it before. If it takes too much to judge them then maybe they don't have to be judged, they could just be participatory. And you (you as in whoever would be in charge) wouldn't need to come up with as detailed things for it, there could be simpler challenges, like....I dunno....a one hour build, or a build for a type of house (cottage, painted lady, beach house, etc), or a base game build, different things like that.

    Is anyone else interested?

If you check out the "Build Challenges Links" thread, there are some good challenges out there. I also have the "Blueprint Builds" thread you can take a look at if you need some more things to build.

Thanks! I’m in progress with the big glacier place. I have the outside finished and the rooms mapped out but I am unhappy with my roof. I will need to figure something out for that.it is not exactly like the picture, i noticed everyone was putting their own spin on it so I put my own spin on it too!

Yeah, roofs can be difficult @fujicakes1 and I very much encourage creativity and making it unique :)

hey folks, I'm testing my build but when I save the lot to my Library and then build it again some of the stairs are missing. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Strangely this only happens if I build on other lots, on the exact same lot the stairs appear.

Haven't heard of this issue before. Were you using cc stairs? I did try checking EA's Answers HQ, but all I found was an issue with Sims Mobile from over three years ago.

    thank you @SimTresa

I don't use CC, but I found and old bug from 2016 and I think it's the same - the house is somehow rotated to align with the new lot and it disappears. Luckily the lot is clearly stated on this challenge so I will just tell people to use it there. Will post it later, if you ever download please remember to put it on Umbrage Manor and nowhere else 😂

    ENTRY DETAILS:

I was inspired by New Orleans (which may or may not be the inspiration for Willow Creek) and I set the house in January. This means Winterfest decorations are being stored in boxes, trees are being put down, but nights are still long, and hanging lights and illuminated trees are appreciated.

Abigail Bryant is a widow who converted her large Queen Anne home into three apartments. The first apartment is hers, with an antique and pristine decor. The second apartment is rented by the Baldwins, a single mom and her daughter. Their style is contemporary with neutral tones. The third apartment is rented by Anissa, a young adult with a secret cat. Her style is trendy and pastel, and she doesn't mind dirty walls.

@Wildling :-o It is gorgeous. I know you got inspired by New Orleans but it totally reminds me a fairy tale from my childhood that was set in Siberia :-) I like how the house is connected to the street, I always strugle with blending it in so it does not look like an isolated random thing in the middle of nowhere, well done!

Thank you @Makova1, this is very sweet and reading it makes me excited to build more. Weather is definitely more Siberia than New Orleans!

I wanted to get away from Winterfest so chose to design and decorate a hosue with Kwanzaa in mind.
Kwanzaa is an annual holiday affirming African family and social values.
Each of the days of the celebration is dedicated to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani). There also are seven symbols of the holiday: fruits, vegetables, and nuts; a straw mat; a candleholder; ears of corn (maize); gifts; a communal cup signifying unity; and seven candles in the African colours of red, green, and black, symbolizing the seven principles. On each day the family comes together to light one of the candles in the kinara, or candleholder, and to discuss the principle for the day. On December 31, families join in a community feast called the karamu. Some participants wear traditional African clothing during the celebration.
