What core mechanics are you expecting to be implemented into TS4?

Hello,

With the inclusion of milestones, compatibility and improved liked/dislikes, our sims are going to be given more uniqueness and individuality which is a good thing imo.

Which caught me thinking, what other "core mechanics" do you think could be implemented? Be it something that already existed in previous Sims game or something entirely new.

As for me, I'd love to see a "long term aspiration" of some kind. "Multiple small objectives" aspirations as they exist now in TS4 are fine, and the game expects you to complete multiple of them anyway so them being simplistic by design is okay, but I'd love to have one big goal to work toward over the whole Sim's lifespan.

I don’t know if it’s possible really but I’d like some skills to keep developing even when you Max them out. It’s kinda you get to level 10 and then that’s it and it’s kinda a waste of time to keep going. Would be nice to still learn new piano pieces and things like this. But I don’t know if it’s possible.

Generally I think growing together is going to add a lot and it’s hard to think of many more systems. Perhaps we’ll see tweaks of existing ones instead.

I would like if they gave us the option to put 'Skill Limits' or increase the difficulty in learning certain skills for our Sims. Sometimes, I just want a Sim to not master a skill, without having him giving it up completely.

Example: One of my Sims live in a hut on a secluded island. He's completely hopeless in the kitchen and with said limit, he'd never surpass level 2. Or I would just let it take him five times as long compared to his chef friends. He's an immortal Werewolf, he has the time.

We want: Faeries, with a good ability tree, hopefully before summer 2024.

What do we want to get rid of: The holiday bug, the constant showering and the weed glitch.

It really is hard to think of anything unique anymore with how many systems already exist in the game, but a few that I’d like to see:

Talents & Weaknesses—a hybrid of Lumpinou’s mod, The Sims 2: Freetime, and the ideas posed by NightwalkerArkanis and JustinB above.

In essence, there should be a random (or player-influenced) chance that your sim is either really good or really bad at certain skills. Not everyone is perfect (unless you want them to be).

    As a talent:
Your sim gains the skill faster, produces better products/items/art, and can “overmax” the skill and gain additional benefits or enter “the zone” where their need decay slows down significantly while doing that skill so they can focus on it.

    As a weakness:
Your sim gains the skill slower, produces worse quality items more often, and will have a hard cap on the level they can reach in that skill.

This allows for telling unexpected or really dynamic stories, like the sim who loves to sing but will never be good at it no matter how much they practice. Or the sim who is just strangely good at painting, and nothing else.

I love this idea of limited skills. Often times I use cheats to skill down certain sims.
Zombies, oh please oh please give us zombies!! :'(

I think some skills should be learnt from very early on, like skiing or swimming could be leant from toddler age, at amateur level, and then maybe when they are teens they could study some skills at competitive level, and once they reach young adult age, they could practice it at professional level. So there will be three levels of skilling, each with intermediate skill levels and most importantly benefits. Competitive level skills will require more skill practice and might bring some competitions to win and prizes, and professional level might open up a career option or some extra job perks, and less chance of failure, and will require daily practice to keep up. Like if my level 10 cooking sim cooks all dishes in the catalogue at least once at excellent quality he gets to call himself a chef and can open and cook in his restaurant, maybe gets to unlock some extra recipes too. There should be a difference between such a sim and one who cooks the same salad dish every day. Basically I would like more steps to skilling up and more perks, I play with aging off and sims eventually reach top levels whether I want it or not. Also there should be no skill increase for poorly done stuff and skill level should also decrease if not practiced for some time.

    Some sort of romance/attraction system.

I think it would be interesting with ways of not all sims being able to reach just any goal. We got infertility, which is fine. I think some sims should simply be too unlucky to reach goals as quickly as others. Or we could have a genetic intellect, making it harder/easier to build skills etc. (the genius trait is not enough - ppl can be intellectual without being a genius. And can be less smart without being a goofball).

    A system of (genetic) talents?

Most of all I wish most careers were built differently. Anyone can easily get the same promotion, in RL many of us do not end up as CEO. We should need to apply for a job, just like we apply to University. A job should claim your sim to have multiple skills (or other factors, relevant). Whenever there is a promotion it could be an option - yes or no. I don't mind promotions to come often if there is a way to slow down by turning down the offer. Maybe there could be added specials like "you are offered a promotion, but it would need you to move to Oasis Springs before accepting. Interested?". Or "We offer you the job as our Tourism Manager, but we must ask you to visit Selvadorada before accepting". Or - "Want to become our next top chef? Bring a top quality xxx dish, and the job is yours!". These extras would of course get tiresome if they were on every promotion, but a couple times per career would be fun.

I'd also like a system where a sim got a possibility to switch careers by applying for a higher job in a different career without starting from scratch. I think we had that in TS3, no? It would also be cool if not all careers were hiring at any time. Make it a tad harder :)

I really wanna see a system to prevent Sims to go to certain worlds. I don't want my sulani folks going to San Myshuno getting a coffee like its normal for them to just appear there. Or my Oasis Springs people appearing in Henford for a walk.. Also I want to be able to assign homeless sims to worlds, so they only spawn in worlds I assigned them to.. its a mystery to me that this isnt implemented yet as it completely destroys immersion :/

actually, I really hated that we were locked in one world in Sims 3 and I love that we can travel to any world we want and so can other sims in sims 4. In real life people also travel from city to city, country to country. It gives so much more options

We have compatibility and family dynamics now, but I would still like to see some Romance dynamics, like types of scent people like or type of candy they would like or whether they like muscles or not, or whether they like Blondes, Brunettes, or jet black hair. Whether they like blue, green, brown, or violet eyes.

I like chikdren to be able to play with each other without having to use toys, like play tag, cops and robbers, et, I’d likd to see a family game if volleyball, and a pool table.

I want to see Hotel's, Casino’s, and Cars

I’d like to see world packs…..

I want orange tree’s, juicers, and smoothie makers, an electric skillet, and stationary bikes

I want to see more small animals and horses….

I want to see more hobbies, toy making, pottery, tinkering and working on cars. Jewelry making, glass blowing ( including jewelry pieces ). Classes for children like Ballet and Karate.

I want to see get to work get a refresh with being able to buy anything off a rack, jewelry box, hat box, shoe rack etc. I also want to see a simple clothing lot trait where you have to buy clothes to open them up in a household..

I also want to see more active careers with work places with the choice of following sim to work, staying home to do the job or taking the day off. I’d also like to see unpaid leave of absences for all jobs, including active careers.

I would like to see all children, toddlers and infants who get taken away or whose care givers pass away sent to the adoption agency to get adopted.

I know these aren’t all Mechanics, but they are things I’d like to see in the game before it’s finished.
