CHALLENGE #164 - The Hawthorne Project XV

    GALLERY COST: 92,673
    TOTAL COST: 94,673
    LINK TO ENTRY SLIDESHOW: "imgur.com/a/OQRrLqO"
ENTRY DETAILS: This is my first entry to any building contest. It has been quite a learning process. Willow Creek had made low interest loans available to Foundry Cove residences to improve their home and property. The 2 corner lots were empty. The mayor and city council were excited to learn one of the lots were purchased by the Hawthorne Project. This 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom house is a single floor home. It features a front and back porch with a backyard patio. The front of the home from left to right as you face it holds the master bedroom/bathroom, the kitchen/living room, and activity room. The left leg holds the nursery, the twins’ room, and bathroom 02. I thought it important to keep their rooms close to the parents as they need close attention and supervision. Rocky’s room is in the right leg along with the guest bathroom (bathroom 03). As a teen, he would probably welcome the privacy this gives him. The activity rooms hold a couple of exercise equipment and an activity tree for the toddlers. That way when Rocky is minding the toddlers, he can watch them and exercise at the same time.

So weird--the baby came up rather light colored considering she was very dark when I uploaded the family. It may be because she is technically an adopted baby-but don't tell the family that! LOL

That has happened to households I made, as well. Dark on the household pics but lighter in live mode.

“Welcome, have a seat,” you say, escorting the two women and their three children into your home. You think all three are girls though one has very short red curls and one wears a baseball cap under which only a hint of blond hair is visible.
“Thank you for seeing us,” Aitana Villareal flips her long ponytail over her shoulder as she sits.
“Yes, we know it’s short notice,” her wife, Agnes Rey, agrees. A headband keeps her blond hair out of her face. “I hope you don’t mind that we brought Lorena, Brigida and Tonya with us.”
“It’s no trouble at all; I had a cancellation. And it’s perfectly fine,” you say, smiling “Now, can I help you?”
“We just bought an old barn at the edge of town,” Aitana replies. “We would like some help fixing it up and turning it into a home.”
Agnes nods eagerly. “We want to maintain some of the rustic elements - you know, columns, barn doors, exposed beams - but to update the interior enough to make it comfortable. As much of the original structure must be preserved as possible.”
“We’re thinking an open floor plan on the lower level, with a nice kitchen for Agnes - “
“And a fireplace for Aitana.” Agnes gives her wife a loving smile.”
“Don’t forget, you said we could have the loft as a playroom, Mom, Mama.” the girl wearing the baseball cap interrupts.
“Shush, Lorena, we were getting to that,” Aitanaa scolds gently. “Sorry. We were thinking the girls could have a playroom upstairs near their bedrooms, if possible.”
“I think we can handle that,” you promise.
“All of us love outdoor activities, so if you could keep that in mind while designing the backyard, that would be great,” Anges says.
“Of course. Do you have a color scheme in mind?”
“We like most colors. Wood tones with touches of bright colors like blue, yellow and green would be perfect,” Aitana replies.
“But not pink. I hate pink,” the young girl who most resembles Aitana declares.
“No pink, understood,” you say seriously, before turning your attention back to her mothers. “What is your budget?”
    “$130,000,” Aitana replies.
“Excellent. We’ll have your new home ready for you in one month.”

    The brief:
    Budget: $130,000
    Lot size: 30x20 or larger.
Build a barndominium style house. The exterior must be obviously based on a barn.
The house should have at least three bedrooms plus a playroom for the girls.
The first floor should have an open floor plan with a nice kitchen and at least one fireplace.
    Include at least two bathrooms.
Landscape - include lots of outdoor activities.

The Sim Challenge: Create the Rey-Villareal family. You can pick all traits, aspirations, likes and dislikes - remember one of the girls dislikes pink. Create outfits suited for spending time outside. Show the family enjoying their new home.

The room challenge: Create the girls’ new playroom. Budget: $10,000

Remember to include the entirely of the hashtag #bns165 or your entries will not be judged! The deadline for this challenge is Friday, September 30th, no later than 23:59:59 EST/New York time.[/left]

I guess I will be the first to ask. So, since they already purchased the lot, that is not part of the $130,000 this time?

It is not entirely clear to me exactly what barndominium is.
Should all the rooms be on the first floor and only the playroom would be upstairs?
Or can we have a second level with bedrooms and next to them the playroom?

Here's a description and some examples. It can go either way. Some have the rooms all on one level with or without a loft, some have some upstairs rooms along with the loft. So it's really up to you. you can base it on the style of barn you're familiar with.
