What Have You Guys Done With Newcrest?

«13
So Newcrest is great because its empty and you can have total creative control over it. But I'm kinda stumped because I don't know what to do with it. I was thinking of making it a social district with cute coffee shops, lounges, and bars, but I also kinda want a little residential area. I just wanna know what you guys have done with Newcrest in your game? Pics are welcome! Thanks

Newcrest sorta became my main Sims world as that way all other's remained the same, i do enjoyed making my own festivals based off the seasons on newcrest, i have a vet clinic a few restaurants some houses and a park, sorta tried to balanced it out.

I put in some fancy houses and a selection of community lots that I find useful or fun for my sims to visit. It's actually become one of my favourite neighborhoods to play in.

I've done several different things, but this what I have currently.

I moved the Landgraab to this neighborhood, and also added Darren and Dirk Dreamer and their TS2 home. There is also the Oldie family (TS2), and a restaurant, the one that has the experimental dishes.

In this section, I added homes that looked like the ones across the street. I moved the Burbs from TS2 into one of the homes.

In this section, I added a firehouse restaurant, a church/wedding chapel. In this neighborhood, I added the Broke and Pleasant family from TS2 and the homes they lived in at the time. In my game, I removed the TS4 version of Dirk Dreamer and Dustin Broke and replaced them both.

I haven't really progressed any of the families, because I'm waiting for a University type pack to be released. I don't know if EA will ever get around to it, but I'm hoping they do. If I was able to rename the towns, I would have renamed this one to Pleasantview.

I have done multiple things with Newcrest overtime. I find that most often I place all the community lots in Newcrest and wipe them out from the other neighborhoods where I make them fully residential (except for a park or two). But sometimes I have it both community and residential like the other neighborhoods (current save file is like this). I know - not much help

I've turned my Newcrest into a suburban haven for all of the families I make/download to fill the world. There are also a few small and large parks, a restaurant, a cafe, a lounge, and a department store. This is on my main save file, at least.

In the past, I've used the empty lots to practice building.

Newcrest is mostly a community for my aliens. There’s a diner, spa, toddler park, restaurant, park to get married, gym and houses with what I consider alien aesthetics.

I never really know what to do with it, either. In my latest iteration, I put community lots in the lower left section, houses along the right, and modern houses up at the top, with a couple nightlife lots.

This is my Newcrest as a whole. I only have one lot left to fill. I typically put ruthless_kk Priory right there but i'm gonna try and build my own church/wedding venue for that spot. All builds in this world are of my own design and I tried to build similar to the other buildings around, my attempt to make the neighborhood more cohesive.

La Bistro, empty lot reserved for wedding/church, and The Old Graveyard

Red Theatre and Oracle Point Spa

(Left to Right) Victorian Run, Yellow Dream, Blue's Lounge, The Haliwell(which I will update hopefully with witches), Georgian Outlook

The San Francisco, Pleasant Boutique, Kids Zone; (behind boutique) Vernon Victorian and Appealing Verandas

I love my Newcrest and my sims come to this neighborhood a lot. They can go to the movies or party at Red Theatre, workout or relax at the spa, eat Italian food, visit past loved ones at the graveyard, play in the park or have a kids/toddler group hangout at Kids Zone, shop and drink coffee at the boutique, or listen to some jazz and blues at the lounge. It's like my multi purpose hood.

If I bother with it at all it's usually a recreation area. My 'Ladybird Landing' (combo restaurant/bar/workout room/quiet room for reading & chess/and four hotel style rooms for sims that need a place to crash). I surround it with parks and other such low-key venues.

I haven't done much yet because I don't have the packs to do it (Cats and Dogs, Spa Day, Dine Out, and Get To Work), but I want to make it like a shopping place, with a few schools in the neighborhood section with the biggest lots. Then I'd add a few restaurants, a bowling alley, a vet, a few spas, and some other stores. And if they add hotels I'm guaranteed to be adding those.

When I have more expansions I'm going to use it as a place for TS2 gallery families to live so I can have a vague version of Strangetown back.
  • logionlogion Posts: 4,712 Member
Newcrest is kinda the world where I put unplayed sims that I just want to have a place to live in the world, so I have large houses with "apartments" there where all those sims live.
  • AmavariAmavari Posts: 167 Member
My mandalorian/military family lives there, for a start, I basically built up a bunker for them with rockets and a telescope outside.. and cannons in between carefully placed gaps in the barrier i built on the roof..

Also a jedi temple on twin oracle
And next to that i built a space ship-house for my current alien mc *points to icon* really I'll just build houses wherever something fits... but Newcrest now looks like someone pretty much built a gigantic alien friendly military base.

I haven’t done anything other than switching out a couple of community lots. I’ve been downloading the «simsie save». It’s a template save that is updated and filled up with a little bit of this and that. But Newcrest is a mixture of residental and community lots.

@Oldeseadogge that actually sounds amazing! Is it available on the Gallery?

@logion ooooh I love the idea of faux apartments

I have a gorgeous park where my adult sims can have quiet dates, I have a toddler park, a hotel, a spa, a gym, and a mix of restaurants and residences. I literally spent about 3 hours on the gallery one day upgrading all the neighborhoods with new community lots to make the game more fun, and it certainly helps keep the game fresh.

I've turned my Newcrest into a New Orleans/Tennessee style neighbourhood, with old styled houses and a few different live music bars and lounges (I was looking something with a Nashville type vibe for my musician). I used to make it into a modern type neighbourhood, all with modern houses, but I'm really loving my new direction, it's got more character now

I used to put random gallery sims there, such as households with toddlers so my sims could meet them to have playdates or more kids for my Sims' kids to make friends. Recently I've been in the habit of downloading save files with Newcrest already made over. I'm too lazy (and terrible at building) to fully re-do it myself.

@ListentoToppDogg could you tell me how to download save files with Newcrest made over? Is it just like downloading mods/CC?
  • catitude5catitude5 Posts: 2,537 Member
For me, it's a place for venues, restaurants, nightclubs, movie theater, bowling alley, old stone church, hotel. There are no houses there.

@Teena94 I don't use mods so I don't know how that works. But for save files, usually a person will upload them to a blog or file sharing website. All you have to do is download the file and put it in your saves folder. Then when you start up the game you'll have their fully edited worlds in that save.

I made the overall vibe colonial in Newcrest, I also have a commercial district at the back subdivision where I place restaurants, a dive bar and a bowling alley. There are family homes 3 to 4 br houses where I mostly park my townie families.

I don't have pictures to share. But, I have two very different game saves. One is my Ancestral game save, set in the 18th century. I use NewCrest as the Settlements my family removed to in 1773. Mostly log cabins, which I built in game myself.

In my other game save, it's set in the future (Somewhere in the 23rd century.) NewCrest is the center of the entertainment world. Karaoke bars, elite gyms, concert venues, restaurants fit for a star to dine. That sort of thing.

It really, really depends on the game save.
