Hi all,
I just noticed that my sims just haul themselves out of the pool and that when I click on the ladder, no options appear. Has this always been the case and I just never noticed? I always put ladders in the pools to avoid sims drowning to death, but I'm wondering if there is any use for the ladder at all.
Thanks

If you want to drown them, fence in the pool once they are in it.
I have no memory of this place. Time to start anew I guess
It is, but it's unrealistic that they couldn't climb out WITHOUT one. That was my point.
Growing up my local pool had ladders at the deep and shallow ends. The entrance to the changing rooms was in the middle, no ladder there. Easiest to climb out without the ladder in the middle, than go to the end and potentially have to queue at the ladder.
I actually dont have a long answer to this.
But yes, we have always been able to get up from the edge, since the pool patch.

Are they still not able to swim and do laps? The only thing my sims will do is use the diving board repeatedly till they are bored and wander off to do something else
I tried to find the asnwer to the question by the way (were they able to use a ladder before) and found this article.
Sitting on the side is new (and great, I think the way sims in and out of the pool can interact with each other has improved anyway), but climbing out 'this time around'?
I must have one headstrong Sims 3 sim
Yeah I was gonna say...wasn't the ladder usless since ts3? lol
I found out the hard way!
In my defence...the sim in question was obsessed and I mean obsessed with the deep fat fryer thing. Every meal he was at it. He would have got fatter, I was just putting him out his misery early.
Or so I thought.
Just build a wall around the pool

Sims 3 sims didn't use ladders either from what I remember
Which makes them useless to me. I only use the pool to drown sims
Since The Sims 3 Sims have the wonderful ability to save their own behinds from drowning via climb on the side of the pool. So this has been part of the franchise since 2009 when the sims 3 was released! So Happy Swimming Simming Swimming Simming Simmer!
Wow, I must really be oblivious. I started playing the Sims with Sims 2. I played Sims 3 for years and never noticed they could haul themselves out. Just noticed it yesterday....
