I recently had to restore my entire computer, but backed up my Sims 4 saved games. I've reinstalled the game in the past and had zero problems restoring my saved game files. Fast forward to today and now I'm unsure of where to put my saved game files. Everything looks new and things are missing. I believe with all of the new game expansions Origin/EA or whoever is running the show now decided to change the structure of the game files and now I don't know what folders to put what in to restore my saved game files. I'm so upset I could throw a glass at the wall! This game is so time consuming I don't have the strength to start over, you know?!
Help please!!! Does anyone know where to put my Tray, Saves, SavedSimInfo Data, Mods, lotcacheddata, Custom Music, etc...files in order to restore my old game after a uninstall/reinstall?
This is what the new installed game Folder Looks like:
Program Files (x86)
-Origin Games
- The Sims 4
_Installer
Data
Delta
EP01
FP01
Game
GP01
GP02
Soundtrack
SP01

The save games folder etc don't go in to the program files folder
Run the sims 4 game to generate a new sims 4 folder.
Then, go to Documents-Electronic Arts-Sims 4 folder.
Then place the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from your backup, into the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated folders with the old backup folders.
( you may not have saved the "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folder in your backup, but if you did back them up, you can place them into the new sims 4 folder )

-Documents
-Electronic Arts
and I copy and paste my all of my Files into this folder. Restarted the game and unfortunately, it still doesn't load my saved data. The last time I reloaded my saved data I do not remember doing anything on my (C:) drive. I installed my game on an external hard drive (J:) for the added space.

The Sims 4 gameplay files and folders go in this folder:
Documents
- Electronic Arts
- - The Sims 4
The cleanest way to make this work is to start the game, then exit the game. This makes the game create the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, and its files and subfolders. You can now copy these folders to replace the ones the game just made:
- Saves
- Tray
- Screenshots
- Mods
- Custom Music
You might also want to replace the Options.ini file with your old one.
Can you make sure when you started the game and got the fresh TS4 folder, you go into it and then into the Saves folder, and then paste the individual save files (replace any if there is a prompt)? Don't paste the whole saves folder cuz that might not work sometimes.
I uninstalled/reinstalled all over again. Started the game like suggested, jumped out and found the Electronic Arts folder.
Copied and paste all I the files I wanted (most importantly the Saves Folder) and restarted the game.
Voila'. Mischief Managed. Thank you everyone. You guys are the best!
Happy simming!
