2 Build mode questions

I was wondering if anyone would know how to do two things in build mode. First one is there away to turn on counting squares like we had in Sims 2 and Sims 3? I am trying to find the center of the lot and so much easier to do when I don't have to count each square. Second question does anyone have clue on how to delete an individual square of a foundation? I am trying to make a porch and it keeps deleting the entire foundation when I use the sledge hammer.
