Yeah this is outrageous. I already thought $40 CAD for an EP was a bit steep. Increasing it to $52 before tax (which is 11% total where I live, bringing it to almost $60) just makes it easy for me to finally say goodbye to this game. $60 used to be the cost of a new base game. Now I’m expected to reach into my threadbare pockets and shell that same amount out for an Expansion pack. I would never buy a stuff pack for $13 either. That’s just nuts. It was barely worth $10. It’s not at all worth $13. Just no. The economy right now is getting worse and worse. We are paying more and more just to live. We are taxed on everything in Canada too. We are taxed on groceries where I live. When everything costs more and more, I can’t justify throwing money at a video game. I’ll save and buy a game I know I’ll truly enjoy. And put some aside for my child’s future. So long, Sims.
For perspective, though, that $40 CAD = $32.20 USD. We Canadians were getting a bargain compared to Americans, who were paying $40 USD, for years while a lot of other companies didn't let us pay in CAD at all. That said, some warning would have been very welcomed by a lot of users. Along with an explanation.

Too much, though. It’s a 30% increase, regardless of their reasoning behind it. I have a hard time justifying game purchases in general lately as most are $80 for a brand new game. Sims was still a little more palatable for me til this point. Now I absolutely MUST wait for 50% off sales, which may mean I never get another stuff pack. I don’t think they’re ever marked down that much
I have a few SPs left to buy but I'll be waiting for another sale, no matter how long it takes. I probably won't be buying the new one ever though. I'll also be waiting for sales for the other packs in future too. £10 for a SP is ridiculous.
Another suggestion some people could try: see if anybody local (or if anyone close by on like eBay?) is selling any used physical game copies, and buy them? Obviously that doesn't fix this whole problem, but it might be worth looking into, for those who still want some expansions but can't pay the new prices.

With Physical copies you can take distribution, cost of disc packaging ect leading to extra cost. So some people may be upset (always some) but it makes sense that a physical copy would cost more. With digital...why would it cost more? always found that strange.
I just have to add too, that it seems really ironic to time the increases with the release of laundry. LOL. I know some people do want it but I can’t imagine paying the equivalent of 20% of my monthly water bill to do laundry in a game. I liked some of the clothes and was going to spend the $10. But not this
Well none of the stuff packs are worth the asking price. Some of the gps and expansions are duds so just wait for a sale? Ive only bought sims 4 things on sale
The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5
All this does is explain why the game is harder to find in-store where I live. I live in a state that borders Canada, and many Canadians come down to shop because many things are cheaper here.
I know right. I live in the uk and you can only get them in certain shops!
Noticed this change today when buying the new pack. I'm more irritated at myself that I keep giving them my money to be honest. They make good stuff and I was more than happy to pay £7.99 for a stuff pack but £10 is pushing it a bit. The least they could do is fill the stuff packs out a little more. I feel like an appropriate symbol for EA would be the monopoly man.

I had £8.00 ready to buy the pack and then went on to find it has gone up... gutted! I have been looking forward to it all week!!!!
Let's complain about it while continuing to blindly buy every pack they release regardless of content or quality. That'll teach them!
That’s the mind set I cannot get my head around. I would love to make a poll asking how many people hate the idea of laundry but plan on buying it anyway especially now for many people the price for laundry has just increased.
Now excuse me I’m off to do real life laundry. How fun!

There has been a lot of speculation in the forums when it comes to the prices being increased. Yesterday stuff packs, expansions packs and game packs were increased in money due to the global market today. The countries that have been affected are:
●Brazil
●Canada
●Denmark
●Italy
●Korea
●Mexico
●Norway
●Poland
●Spain
●Sweden
●South Africa
●United Kingdom
I understand that the rates and exchanges go up in different countries each day, but why pay more for something that isn't even worth the money? Many people, including me buy expansion packs, stuff packs and game packs even when we think it isn't worth it. It would be fine if it was a physical copy with a disk but not a code that automaciltly goes onto your origin account. What are we actually paying for? Many expansion packs have gone up by 50% in some countries.
It would have been nice to have a official statement explaining what was going to happen with the prices and what countries are affected by it. It could have a announcement on here which nobody could reply to and could have been done a lot earlier than yesterday. This have could have prepared people for what was going to happen. Laundry was realsed today, again why just before it was realsed? It would have been nice EA.
I live in the Uk and these are the prices:
£34.99 for a expansion pack
£17.99 for a game pack/ was £13.99
£9.99 for a stuff pack / was £7.99
I would really for EA to apolisge to all of the players, as many people are leaving the game because of the price increase. Many people are downloading codes illegal in order to get the game. Many are boycotting the game due to this.
The fact that they did this the day that a highly (arguably) anticipated stuff pack came out that they knew a lot of people would buy is inexcusable - this just seems like a lousy way to milk money from us..

Except most people really aren’t buying it anyway. I literally went to buy it for $10, realized it was $13, and walked away. I might complain about the game not being quite what I wanted but I could still sort of justify a purchase now and then. But I don’t think I can do that now. 30% is a pretty significant hit. And it’s an even bigger percentage in some places

Exactly, my point. The changes could have been posted last week about the prices not just before a stuff pack is released.

It's still 9.99 here in the US.

How long after the premiere are new packs on sale there?
