Stuck on finalizing

Hi. I just now went to go into the game and knowing that there was an update waiting I let it do it's thing and update. Well, it didn't update. I sent a ticket already via the window that popped up. I decided to try repairing the game. Well, now it's stuck with the base game finalizing which means none of the other games can repair either. I wasn't planning on going back to sims 3 until maybe January, but seeing that I can't play my sims 4 game due to this issue it looks like I'll be going back to sims 3 sooner then I planned.
It's been stuck for about ten minutes.
Please help me.

Try logging out of origin. Then shut down your computer completely . Restart the computer, log into Origin, then see if the issues remain.

There was a problem while updating your game. One or more files that requires an update may be in use. If the issue persists please restart your computer and resume the update.

Any suggestions, tips, pointers? I miss the days of Sims3 when you could download the patches manually

It would be best to completely shut down your computer. Then restart the computer. Go to Windows Update on your computer, and make sure that your computer is uptodate with patches. Then try logging into Origin and updating your game.

Thanks for the tip rosemow - checked updates and found there was an update for "fall creator" - has taken three hours for it to download but all seems fine now. Think I need to have a word with someone at EA and ask them not to do patch updates whilst I'm away on holiday - it makes my life so complicated and my brain hurts now

I have a similar issue...

I already have a laptop with Sims 4 on it and now I am trying to download it to my desktop. But its stuck on finalizing and it won't let me log out :( I'm not sure what to do here. It's been stuck for a day now smh. Any suggestions?

You may need to go to task manager and close Origin that way. Then shut down your computer completely . Restart the computer, log into Origin, and see if the issue remains,

Try going to task manager, and end Origin there. Then shut down your computer completely. Restart the computer, log into Origin, and see if the issue is fixed.

You may need to shut down your computer completely, without trying to end Origin . Then restart the computer, log into Origin and see if the issue has been fixed.

Same, my sims 3 has been finalizing for such a long time, and I can't log out of Origin!

I have the problem where my update just freezes at finalizing for Sims 4. Using the task manager to close Origin and then reopening Origin fixes it and the game acts as if the update finished just fine without getting stuck. The thing that is annoying me though is that it is doing it with every single patch and it never used to do this before. Does anyone know if this problem is ever going to be fixed or if this is just going to continue to happen with every single Sims 4 patch and update?

Try seeing if uninstalling and reinstalling origin may help to prevent this occurring the next tine that there is a game patch.

This is like the third time I've had to uninstall and reinstall the Origin client, they seriously need to work on this -.- And thanks, I'll try that again and see if it helps for this problem.

I am sorry that you are having these issues.

Make sure it's not your firewall blocking the download. This can happen if you are on a network such as at work, or if your firewall settings are on high.

What I tried was I used the task manager to close Origin then I pressed sims 4 on the desktop. The App was paused so I pressed "Cancel".
