Sims 3 Pets code not accepted by Origin - how?

Hi all,

I'm hoping anyone has an idea to solve this, though I fear the worst...

I bought the Sims 3 Pets somewhere about 4/5 years ago at a local retailer. I never installed the game as I soon after got some serious health issues. I put the game away and didn't rememnber even having it, until this week. I was rummaging around in the attic to look for Sims 2 and found several Sims 3 expansions. I registered everything - bur Pets. Origin won;t accept the code, says it was used. I contacted EA and they, too, let me know the code is already registered to an email address. That email address is definitely not mine, and I have no idea whose it is or how MY game got the be registered.

But... EA won't help me. Say they cannot do anything as long as I don;t know the adress. Now I cannot play my game! I'm furious and disappointed at the same time... Is there no solution?

I have to ask.. Did you happen to buy it used at that local retailer? (non-sealed copy)

You should still be able to play it. I have a used copy of University that my daughter bought at a thrift store. I can play it but I can't register it. Origin will not recognize it as owned.

I could play it if I did a clean re-install and not upgrade beyond 1.67, but I'm not very keen on that...

And no, it wasn't a thrift shop or used, just the local toy store.

It seems that you have three choices, then.

1 - Try the EA route again and see if you get a more sympathetic customer support person on the line.

2 - Install the disc version of what you have. Or is it the case that Origin is blocking the disc install because that EP can't be registered? (sorry if I've misunderstood that part)

3 - Repurchase the digital version of Pets through Origin. You shouldn't have to do that, but it is an option.

If you still have proof of purchase you might find someone friendly enough to help on Origin chat. I know, slim chance you would still have it. If you do have a base game copy printed before 2012 and the rest on disk then you may have to reinstall completely and superpatch. Otherwise you can wait for sales and unfortunately purchase it again.

I figured the OP might be on the most recent patch 1.69 and that patch requires all packs + base to be registered to the same account in order to play with them.
