We Badly Need New Afro Hair Textures

Like the title says we badly need new afro hair textures. I'd love one like the hair Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix was sporting in their Hair music video. I'd love to use afro hairstyles in my game, but the afro hairs we have are pretty awful looking.

You'll have to click on the links as when I post the images in the post they don't actually show up.

Editing this post to say that the hairstyle in the pictures I included is more curly than afro, as pointed out, but I think both are badly needed.

I agree since I play a lot with black female sims.

I consider that curly hair not afro (those pics are my hair after a straighten it lol) but I totally agree. More curls and fros! And better textures, the base game afro is just a lump.

Yea neither of those examples are afro hair. But I agree with the purpose of this thread.

Okay, well more African American textured hairstyles in general really.

I agree. The hair we have is super limited to just afros and braids...where's all the curly hair?
Not to mention as it is the afros in this game don't even look like hair.

Anyways here's what a guru said in the Ask a Guru thread

As a black simmer with long hair I feel there isn't enough hairstyles for us to choose from when creating a black sim. So my question is, would it be possible to add long or shoulder length hairstyle to the game? Right now the the only ones that we have to choose from is Afro and dreads.
We understand the importance of having diversity in hair textures/styles and definitely consider different types of hair when we are concepting hair for CAS.

So far we have these hairs for longer African hair textures/style...

Edit: but if you mean if it's possible to have something like this, it may be possible but will need time and art exploration to make sure we get the hair texture in our art style and looking good.

    @catloverplayer
That's not strictly a textured hair. To me that could be the hair of any ethnicity.

Still it looks good on black females.

I've seen some pretty good afro hair on tumblr if you search for it.

@Heyysims True. However, the point is that there really need to be more afro and tightly curled styles coming from Maxis themselves. After all, it doesn't mean much when you can make a beautiful Black man or woman face-wise when the hair options are all round 'fros, fades, or braids and dreads--none of the lose but still curly styles. For instance, in real life, I mostly either wear my hair in low-slung ponytail or pigtail puffs, or loose in a style that looks like a shorter version of Beyonce's hair in the "One Night Only" number from Dream Girls. Those styles are not yet available as official styles in-game, and the one CC hair that comes closest to my loose style is too high and too bumpy to really match it. Good "ethnic" hair CC is out there, but there's not much of it...especially in terms of loose styles (We do more than just rounded 'fros and protective styles! Ever see the sista' from Fringe?! Or pictures of Diana Ross and Donna Summer in the 70's with flowing 'fros?! We let our hair down too, dang it!!).
There is a song I hear, a melody from the past...

How about a little curls like natural hair, more slick ponytails or bun, individual braids with curls at the end, short braids to the shoulders curly at the end and a side bang, a braided bun with a braided side bang and just a beaided bun.

I'm guessing it's because of the high Poly Count.

Yeah, that's what I like to call a curly fro. I want to see twists-outs, and bantu knots. Omg those are soooo gorgeous. Even box braids, patra braids... I could go on and on but I won't.

Yes! I like playing with dark skinned female sims so the hair would be helpful.

That's pretty disappointing to hear. Looks like we might be doomed to braids and fros :(
Guess I gotta stick to the the MM curly hair

Ebonix sims has figured out how to make this work, but that requires CC and I know everyone is not comfortable with that idea. Here is a link if you're interested.

To be honest, afros in TS4 is not easy to make, seriously one of the developer use a freaking cauliflower as the concept for an afro in the base game.

But the dreads are WONDERFULLY made!!!!

She also creates political CCs too...

How are they any more difficult to make than straight hair textures? If they've done it before and CC creators can do it, then there's no excuse. I think the female small afro and the styled male afros are great.

Honestly, I'd even be very happy if they retextured the existing afros and added more in like the ones LumiaLoverSims made. I used to use these but I really don't want to go back to using custom content again.

The style looks like IMVU characters or something.. Definitely doesn't match the Sims 4 at all, and I'm really not into that look especially for my game.
