This game it's so ridiculous. Excuses over excuses. At this point it was better that they never made this base game crap from the start. I really hope it will fail, and then I will laugh. They really need to stop treat us like dumb. There's not even one thing true about what he said. The sims 4 is limited because They want to keep it limited. It's a shame that there are things already in the code of the base game and they don't want to make them available. So what's next? A lounge chair that is gameplay object in a ep/gp?! Instead to make us angry with all this "sorry we can't", make relax on bed, pillow talk and shower woohoo as a real thing, not just unused codes
The Tweet said nothing about not being able to do something like a lounge chair, all it said was that a lounge chair would not be content added in a Stuff Pack and when you think about it that makes sense; Stuff Packs are cranked out very quickly and as a result I really, really doubt the development team are afforded the time to create brand new animations (including all the multitasking stuff) and on top of that creating that kind of animation is probably far more time-consuming and expensive than a Stuff Pack is worth. These guys are video game developers, I doubt they're on minimum wage salaries here. It makes far more sense for a lounge chair to be part of a Game Pack or Expansion Pack where new animations are EXPECTED.

As for TS4? I hope it goes on to have a long lifecycle like all of the other games within the franchise. People may not like it, but there are clearly enough fans of the game otherwise EA wouldn't be cranking out content like they are and it would be really sad if all those people lost out on a game they genuinely enjoy.
If every little content is treated like these infamous lounge chairs... well, the game will probably still under development until 2030. What is a shame is the fact that some of you justify them. More you protect them, more the game will be always empty.

@luthienrising, that's you and not most players who expect a lounge chair to be made for lounging. I would rather have one that has only a few animations like relax and eventually 'sun bathe..get burned or tan' than for it to take forever and have it behave exactly as a reg. dining chair. You already have an arm chair, dining chair and benches. Give a little and let's get on with it.

ETA: Sofas, love seats, ottomans, fountains where you can do all that...lounge chair means nothing more than lounge.

I have not seen this scientifically conducted survey showing that most players only want to lounge in a lounge chair and nothing else. I want eating and drinking animations that suit a lounge chair as opposed to a dining chair. I don't want a boring lounge chair that's little different from napping on a sofa. That would not be worth any money to me. I'd rather pay for creative design than boredom and the same stuff we had before, even if it takes longer to get that thing. If I want Sims 2 or 3 lounge chairs, I have those games already. I want a lounge chair that I can use like I actually use one, on, say, a beach in Cuba. (I could use that holiday about now.)

    I found an argumentative moment.

Why shouldn't your sim be able to eat and drink on a lounge chair. It's a lounge chair. People (in reality) stay there for hours, with food and drink and what not. Why shouldn't your sims?

I'm not protecting them and I am certainly not EA's number one fan. All I am saying is that Stuff Packs are not the place for objects like that because EA wouldn't be able to recycle or tweak existing animations. To me Stuff Packs are for stuff, Game Packs and Expansion Packs are for gameplay objects so I don't expect Stuff Packs to introduce objects that require anything beyond repurposed, pre-existing animations.

If you want to think that way then that's fine but trust me, that is not my angle whatsoever.

I agree. I want to be able to do more with a lounge chair than just send my sim out to relax and bake in the sun. I'd want my sim to either be able to sit on it sideways like a normal chair or lounge back on it and slurp one of their juice drinks while listening to music and holding a conversation with the other sims who are also out there with them.

I'd like for teens to be able to have a few cute romantic interactions (or heck, any sim teen or older - it'd be cute if the sim's significant other / flame of the moment could do stuff like rub sun tan lotion into their skin while they sit on the lounge chair). Heck, I don't know if it'd be possible but I'd like for there to be a negative reaction to sims who stand in the way and cast a shadow - kind of like a "Hey, can you move? You're blocking my sun!".

When I go away on holiday with friends I don't just tune out the rest of the world and do absolutely nothing at all; sometimes I read and other times I'll sit there on the lounge chair with a friend sat beside me and play a group game, or I'll play on my DS and have my headphones in. I would really hate for lounge chairs to be so limited solely to avoid them being too "similar" to regular chairs and sofas. People complain all the time about this game's lack of flexibility, so limiting an object in such a way would only make it more inflexible.

    *lumps. Ugh tiny phone keyboard

Well limp is appropriate also. :) I too would prefer they be able to do more than simply lounge.

So there's three of us, at least. I'd much rather they spend a little more time adding in the multitasking if they're going to put them in the game so my sims can do a lot more than just lay on a chair and roast.

ETA: Oops, missed @Darkslayer 's comment. So there are 4 of us, at least. XD

It's a shame that you feel that way about the game but not everyone does. As some people have explained here, there are a few of us at least who have preferences for a more useful lounge chair than something you lay on. *shrug* It's just preferences and opinions and everybody's got one. Not sure you can actually prove the "majority" having lost their patience, either, but I personally have enjoyed what they've been producing and adding in the packs they've released and hope they continue with how they've been doing them, even if that means they take extra time to add something like a lounge chair in and it comes in an EP or GP.

WE includes ME, and I want my Sims to be able to eat a snack, have a drink, read a book, use their phones, etc. in lounge chairs, not just to lie there like limps getting a tan. This is about Sims 4 expectations and desires, not other games.
I want that too. I was thinking yesterday lounge chairs could be released in a Seasons EP. I mean Sims could get tan in it, then there could be lounge chairs with an attached table and umbrella, so that they don't burn as much and can set their drink down. Plus I'd want floatable lounge chairs again too.

Ooh, floatable lounge chairs would be awesome. Personally, I'd love a vacation pack with a new destination that includes the lounge chairs. Maybe a Mexican vacation that includes beach areas, a new city, snorkeling and Mayan or Aztec ruins to explore.

Or cruises. A big ole cruise ship with swimming pool, ballroom, casino, restaurant or dining with the captain.

Voting for awesome lounge chairs too !

I wonder if they could reuse the animations for a relaxing in sofa too, or chaises and recliner chairs.

"They take extra time" is a totally excuse. And even if it's true, this game is very bad managed. Also there's not much to working on: they can simply copy & paste all the current interactions that are already in the base game + a small new animation to getting on and leave the lounge chair. I appreciate your opinion anyway, but the reality is another. Sorry to say but with all the mistakes that have been made it's difficult to me to understand why they have to behave like this. This game really need a revolution

The "majority of us" is subjective. Just because someone is the loudest does not mean they necessarily represent the most amount of people. The way I see it yes there are a lot of people who are unhappy with the game and I never once denied that, however there are likely to be just as many people who are happy with the game. I've never believed TS4 is the most popular game and I don't believe it has outsold TS3 in around the same time period, but let's not pretend this game doesn't have its fans because it does and there are a lot of them.

It is your opinion that the game will be a total mess; from my perspective what EA is saying is making sense. I say this not to defend them, not to continue some grand delusion to somehow confirm I haven't wasted my money etc etc and certainly NOT as any kind of fanboy - I say this purely because EA don't add full new gameplay objects to Stuff Packs, they just don't. New gameplay objects in the past were reserved for expansion packs where more time could be spent developing them. I can't imagine too many people would be happy if we got lounge chairs with, say, the Popcorn / Ice Cream maker level of animation depth.

Trust me, I know how it feels to lose patience. I lost patience with EA back with TS3 because from my experience that game was a wreck in terms of the gameplay offered and the stability. Much like how TS4 has taken away things a lot of people loved from the franchise TS3 did that to me so believe me, I know. I have actually been extremely hesitant to get too heavily invested into TS4 because I also know what EA's reputation is like and EA are one of only a very small number of game developers who I will not preorder games for, because I don't trust them. I've only just adopted expansion packs for TS4 and I got those in the sale because no, I do not think this game is worth full RRP.

None of that changes how I feel towards this Tweet though and I'm not about to go and twist it into something it NEVER meant just to get a point across.

EA have screwed up enough times on their own when it comes to this game and in some cases they have screwed up VERY publicly, they really don't need the added assistance from people who would prefer to twist the words of a Tweet around instead of taking it for what it is. They are perfectly capable of self-destructing as it is.

I appreciate your opinion anyway, but the reality is another. Sorry to say but with all the mistakes that have been made it's difficult to me to understand why they have to behave like this. This game really need a revolution

It's hardly a small new animation though; for a simple reclining back against a lounge chair animation they would have to program in a multitude of additional animations for the multitasking - all to be done while reclined back. Would children be able to use a lounge chair? People would naturally expect them to be able to since a big complaint is that the other age groups often get neglected so add in another reclining animation for children + all those multitasking animations and this is JUST assuming all those sims will be able to do with that chair is recline. I would personally expect more from a lounge chair than that and I would be disappointed if the object ended up being so limited in its use.

Gah. I completely forgot floating lounge chairs! Maybe they could float up to an in-pool bar...

Or cruises. A big ole cruise ship with swimming pool, ballroom, casino, restaurant or dining with the captain.

That would be cool, and I bet it would be a great Sims 4 fit. There's been a few requests in the Ideas forum for cruising, and they were popular!

It's not your angle because you still haven't lost the patience. The majority of us have already lost it, and you can't deny it. Come on, are only lounge chairs. If they will continue like they are doing now, this game will be a total mess in every single aspect

"They take extra time" is a totally excuse. And even if it's true, this game is very bad managed. So you aren't interest that they make complete in short time the basic things... oh well, you and I we are the exactly the opposite. Also, originally this game was supposed to be a full time online, where you had to pay monthly fees for playing it. Now with the missing content we have to pay anyway for the packs to make it enjoyable. Currently is even worst because they don't release constantly content like The sims 3. If multitasking is the real problem, it's really bad made from the start. This game is so inconsistent. That's all

Wow I cant believe how much trouble it would be for them to add lounge chairs.

I can. Remember how "hard" opening car doors was in TS3 :P

Jokes aside, I guess the multi-tasking would pose a few problems with the lounge chairs. Especially since they still haven't completely fixed the musical chairs problem.

You know what I miss more than lounge chairs, though? Being able to relax in bed instead of just sitting on the edge.
Also, originally this game was supposed to be a full time online, where you had to pay monthly fees for playing it.

We know it was originally gonna be online-only like SimCity (even if they still won't acknowledge that mistake) but this is my first time hearing about it being a monthly fee type of MMO. EAxis has done some stupid things with this game but I don't think they'd be that stupid. They weren't even that stupid with SimCity O____O

What I find amusing is lounge chairs were in base games of all others (except TS3) when the milking started, and no one was running around demanding they could hug, kiss, sit on together, etc. with lounge chairs though we may have been asking for more multitasking like being able to answer another Sim while in the kitchen cooking. But I don't think we meant talking back to back instead of at least turning to look at Sim but continue to mix while answering. Not this stop and talk...wait for the other Sim to get there..then start up cooking again..if ever....

As I have said they created their own complications with this one, and I don't really care, it's not up to me to wait and beg etc. It's up to me to by pass what is lacking any sort of expectation. You get pools, you expect lounge chairs...it's that simple to customers. Only those who want to make life more complicated than it really is are the nay sayers. Not saying you shouldn't want more interactions with a lounge chair, but for heavens sake, it's a lounge chair. A pool..equals lounge chair, diving board, slide etc.

It's not my problem they couldn't do this in the base game. They had four years on this game just like all the others..so I don't except lame excuses.

Well said. Also, what would had happened if Simcity 2013 wasn't a fiasco? We obviously get a super rushed game as is (aka Olympus). Maybe it's better how the game is turned out now afterall... sure, by this time they can't make miracles with stuff/game/expansion packs, because if a base game it's so lacking from the start, hardly it will better. I really hope that they make a overall change, but I doubt it

I'm fairly sure being able to read, use a tablet, talk on the phone and chat with others while using a lounge chair are all normal parts of life. In fact, I know it because I was just doing it the other day at the pool while my kids swam. So yeah, I'm glad that if they decide to add them in they won't be taking shortcuts with them just so life isn't too complicated for those wanting a quick fix.

Not sure what you mean by risking but I do think it's wrong to assume anything about the guru's work ethic simply because they aren't producing what you want on the schedule you want them to. ;) Justification is unnecessary. I personally want lounge chairs that do more than just offer a place for people to lie down. You want them kept simple so they can introduce them as soon as possible. Both opinions and no justification involved in either.
