Sims 4 Disc Won't Run

Help please! I am trying to reinstall Sims 4 on my laptop (HP DV7-3008TX) that did not like Windows 10 (reinstalled Windows 7 64). The laptop refuses to run the disc even though it will run other discs. Please don't suggest I download it through Origin. I know I can do that but would prefer to do it this way. Would anyone have ideas as to why this particular disc won't run? I know this disc works because it starts to 'auto-play' in other machines It is in excellent condition so it's not because of marks or scratches. Thank you for any help you can provide!

Try shutting down your laptop completely. Then restart the computer again and see if that helps the laptop to run the disc.

Also, if the computer won't run the disc, right click the disc icon in Computer and click open. Then find the file called setup.exe and double click to start the installation.

Thanks @rosemow. I have tried rebooting but it still won't autoplay and if I go to Windows Explorer and double click on it the drive ejects and asks me to insert a disc like its not even there. However it will read other game discs (eg Sims 3) and the Sims 4 disc works on my desktop??? Really confused about this one!

I am sorry that you are having this issue with using the disc in your laptop. I am not sure why it is not working with your laptop. . I hope that somehow it will resolve itself and will work.I am sorry

I have been looking for help for your issue. Try logging into your origin account first. Then try running the autorun.exe or the setup.exe file.

It really must just not like that disc cause if I put the second disc in it has no issue reading it and asking me what i want to do with it! So frustrating! Looks like it's just not going to happen

I am sorry. You may need to download the game through origin, although you would prefer not to do it that way.

Hi,

Have you tried cleaning the game disc and DVD drive internals carefully with a disc cleaning kit? Even the smallest scratch, smudge, or speck of dust can prevent the DVD drive from properly detecting the inserted game disc. The kits are inexpensive and can be purchased from any computer hardware store. Another option to consider is to use an external portable DVD drive unit to install the game with.
