If Sims 4 Flops There Will NOT Be A Sims 5!

«1
Has simmers forgot what one of the gurus said after the release of the base game? A lot of simmers were asking questions about TS5, the progress, what engine they were designing TS5 on, etc. and Grant Rodiek said that if TS4 fails than the series is done. There will be no Sims 5!

The reason I'm posting this is that on random forums especially on here I see so many simmers who are making threads about "Sims 5 Requests" and I just want those simmers to stop wasting their time. I am optimistic that the game will become more successful after the first 2 or 3 expansions and game packs are released, updates, bugs fixed, and hopefully missing features are added back into the game. But, because you always have to see everything from both sides. BUT, if TS4 fails than I hope people released that The Sims franchise will be over. Yes, the end.

I don't know if simmers want it to be the end? I'm not ready for my beloved game bite the dust. And I'm not promoting people to buy the game just for the sake of keeping the game going strong. Buy it because you want to buy it and give it a try, or don't buy it because you're not satisfied with the product EA has given to us. There is a 50/50 mix with me. I don't love it and I don't hate it. I like the game. And I do dislike it as well. But overall I am enjoying the game. And if you absolutely hate the game what are you achieving personally by telling others who do want to give the game a chance by telling those simmers not to buy? Those simmers are still going to buy it, try it, and make the choice on their own whether they enjoy it, don't enjoy it, or are like me and many other simmers---drawn down the middle.

Again, if you think Maxis and EA are just going to accept TS4 as a flop and move on to TS5 you're sadly mistaken. They've already said in numerous interviews that if TS4 isn't successful there will not be or ever will be another series to The Sims. I posted a couple of references just for those who don't know of any of this news.

I do want the Sims to still be alive, trust me! But Sims 4 has gotten SO MANY bad reviews! Maybe they will make it a successful game and Sims 5 will be up on their charts but lets face it. Sims 4 is not good (Don't flag me, this is my opinion). If you think otherwise, that is your opinion, but they took away TO MUCH for the base game to be wanted by "Family/Legacy players" and "Create A style people", even "Create A world people"! So many people were disappointed! Hopefully EA will correct their Mistakes and give things that most of the public wants.

I hope that EA will make Sims 4 better and eventually move onto Sims 5 with a larger budget and not try and make Multiplayer Sims. Hopefully.

This is all your OPINION that you are dressing up as FACT.

A number of games have had one game in their series flop, and the makers look at what failed then came back with a successful sequel.

So no, it is not "The Sims franchise will be over" or "Yes, the end" or "you're sadly mistaken".

Those articles are from FIVE MONTHS AGO...I guess you missed the EA backtracking shortly after the 'foot in mouth' incident. ;)

I think it's common sense actually. What's the point of continuing a series if its latest installment is a flop. :'(
Though I had my doubts, the confirmation of an Expansion Pack coming out 7 months after the base game has helped me feel kinda relief. :)

No, no it is NOT common sense.

Look at ElderScrolls. Battlespire and Redguard were NOT well received. Daggerfall had bugs.

So did the series collapse in 1998?

    NO

They went back to the drawing board and came back with Morrowind:
It was released in North America in 2002...Well-received publicly and critically, with over four million sales and more than 60 awards...

So no, if Sims4 tanks and flops, EA knows there is a ton of dough to be made with the Sims franchise.
If EA acts like Bethesda, then there WILL be a Sims5.

Remember Dragon Age 2, which was disliked by a lot of people? They brought out Dragon Age Inquisition which is a huge success. Lots of franchises have recovered from an installment that was disliked.

Same Guru recently said the Sims 4 is fine and not to worry about the Sims 4. Maxis is profiting off of Sims 3 Store sales and Sims Freeplay sales. I doubt they are hurting financially even if the Sims 4 sales aren't as high as the rest of the Sims bases. Plus new EP is due to come out soon too and I'm sure plenty of Simmers will buy it. The Sims 4 started off in the red because their Sims Olympus project failed. Some have just given up and waiting and thinking about the Sims 5 simply because the Sims 4 doesn't have the features they want like toddlers is a big one and they get tired of the linear tasks and bipolar mood swings that the Sims 4 has. The whole gaming industry flopped in the 1980s because customers were not happy and it came back with better games. So flops and bad games can make future games better.

I agree ... I cannot imagine that SIms 3 has not been a cash cow for EA.
Therefore even if Sims 4 doesn´t get as many sales as hoped for, I wouldn´t assume that Sims 5 is in danger.
Although Sims 4 in this case probably wouldn´t get as many EPs as the former parts.
(on the other hand I guess it is a little bit early to get wishes up for Sims 5 ... I don´t think they already are making plans for this ... rather still for Sims 4 EPs, SPs and Fixes)

Good one. If sims 4 is a flop, the one should get blamed Is NOT those who hate it. Who should get blamed is MAXIS THEMSELVES.

No way The Sims will end poor sales though will let them know the horrible mistakes made this go around and we might just end up with the best Sims game ever with 5... na who am I kidding they will probable give us adult sized children and say they ran out of time.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"

the more funny is, Rather than apologize and improve the game, a game producer need to threaten player there will not be another game to stop complaing. So funny. Can't believe a game producer would say such thing. He think we are begging to give them money?

I'd rather not let them make Sims 5 if it's going to have the same foundation as Sims 4 *shudders*
    • No Room Designation
    • Lifeless/Unrealistic spawning sims as NPCs
    • No Open World
    • No Create a World/Style
    • Excessive amount of loading screens
    • Unusable cars
    • Imaginary backdrops
    • Illogical teen heights

Let another company take over Sims management like what happened to the new Tomb Raider series.

Guaranteed, The Sims 4 was made mostly for 'performance' like The Sims Life Stories for PC, and The Sims 3 was huge. The Sims 5 will be huge, I can guarantee it.

I do hope all of you are right. I have tried so hard to be optimistic for the series. And like I said in my post- I'm drawn 50/50 and I try to look from both sides of the fence with other simmers who are like me, and drawn down the middle. I honestly believe EA is a business that is tanking big time. They have put out so many flops and Dragon Age Inquisition is the only game that was released last year that actually saved them, since The Sims hasn't been selling a lot. I mean, I know it makes me sound like I'm bashing on the game- which I'm not- but they keep lowering the price with sales and giving free limited-time trials and that's not going over so well either. Also, look at Forbes and what they have been saying about Electronic Arts. Their still, to this very day, are saying EA is the worst company in America for putting out unfinished products, ignoring their customers, and only concerned about the money. EA is a very greedy company and has been before the days of Sims 2. Again, I'm hoping the the new series will be successful so the beloved franchise that I've played for the past 15 years will continue for another 15 more.

Oh don't worry...if EA can make a buck fifty off this game it will.

As much as I would like to agree with you, EA looks at these things pretty different. Look at how fast they dumped The Sims Medieval, and now it's like they pretend it never existed. Of course that's much harder to do with The Sims, since it's a series and not a one-time publish branched off of the series. But it is reasonable to think they will hunt after whatever brings most money – and whatever doesn't simply gets washed away. I would be amazed to see something else happen, honestly. Would be a nice surprise :P

Um give it a chance it's okay to have negative opinions on the game as well as positive but how many fn expansions does it have like one or 2 maybe they'll have one with toddlers hell I mean pools made a come back didn't it? You can't please everybody if people find it hard to let go of the sims 3 then fine but I happen to like the Sims 4 and for people to ASK about sims 5 after sims 4 is like asking a pregnant woman when she's going to be expecting a second child when shes still pregnant with her first. I don't think what they said was a terrorist like it probably could have been better worded though

Especially if what some people have been saying people were asking about sims 5 after sims 4 was just released and went on as far as making suggestions for a game that its predecessor has yet to possibly reach a better potential with more expansions It was likely said to shut them up politely . I've had zero issues with the game, mind you have a very expensive desktop (ASUS ROG Tytan G30 for anyone wondering please don't message me about systems that are better or other gaming rigs or telling me its crap or the company is i don't care lol )

This COULD BE WHY I have no issues There may even be a point where I don't like the game but for now I'm going to enjoy it because I do and if you enjoy sims 2 3 or 4 too than all the power to you. I'm not going to judge but I'm not ready to un install a game that has yet to have more content at least I'D HOPE it would anyway lol

    Well,
My opinion is that The Sims phenomenon just sort of happened. Itself. As far as I remember, it was to be a programme for architects and they added the little people as an afterthought. And they were totally surprised that the game became so immensly popular. With The Sims 2, in my of course opinion, they reached their limit. The Sims 3 was a big misunderstanding, an atempt to improve on something which was already good. And with it the downfall has started. The two first (and the best) instalments of the series were just a fluke in my opinion. EA hasn't got it in itself to really improve on The Sims 2 and meet the expectation of the fans who, like me and vampiricdreams31 have been playing The Sims for 15 years.
We can dream on and on about what a real The Sims game should be like but I am certain we will get each time a worse game.
I admit each ( TS3 andTS4) has its highlights, an open world or a fantastic CAS but we will never see all those outstanding features put together. Even if there is The Sims 123.
I wouldn't be surprised if it were.... After all there are new generations of possible simmers still to be born!

This is funny, that was something he shouldn't have said publicly and I'm positive there were all kinds of meetings and policies instituted after that came out. That's what businesses do after an incident like that. This could be part of the reason they barely give out info now.. and I know I don't blame them for that, because you're darned if you do and darned if you don't... See that, I avoided a plum :) Yahh me!

What I do know is I love this version of the game. I'm spending money here, and I can't wait for more.

I loved 1,2 and now 4. If there is a 5 (and I certainly think there would be, because the concept is just too darned good), I'll be in line the first week to buy it. If I hate it I'll do what I did with 3 and put it on the shelf and find some other game to love. I'll revisit the sims versions I enjoy and hope for 6 one day.

What if the Sims 4 doesn't flop? Then what??
  • ScobreScobre Posts: 20,665 Member
Funny thing is Simsville flopped and the Sims 2 came out. The Sims Medieval flopped and there are still Sims games being made. So if the Sims 4 does flop, I wouldn't worry about it. It wouldn't be the first time a game did nor will it be the last.

I have too much money invested in the entire Sims series to not buy whatever other expansion packs, stuff packs, or base games they make.. like the Sims 5 (if there will be one). I remember being super excited for the Sims 3 and I am honestly considering rebuying the game and all of the additions to go along with it again! I gave my Sims 3 collection to a friend when the Sims 4 came out but now I am honestly regretting it. I still have to buy the Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat to see if that can hold my interest in the Sims 4 for awhile longer..

Sims 4 is such a flop, i'm surprised someone hasn't mistaken it for a big limp plum hitting the floor.

I'm not giving in to their blackmail of "we wont progress if sims 4 is a flop". It's not our fault you didn't listen to what we wanted. Something better will come along.
