Does CAS change a Sim's genetics?

If I alter something like eye color or nose shape in CAS, will this change be reflected in the children, or does it execute the original genetics? I'm especially wondering if the edited parent has existing ancestors.

I reduced Bella's eyes to make her look more like the previous games, and I'm going to marry her to one of my Sims. I just want to make sure all their descendants don't have huge eyes.

As far as any pre-existing family members go, their genetics will in no way be altered. With any future generations, they will definitely be affected by the new genetics.

I've been changing genetics for awhile now. The bad genes have never shown up in later generations and the descendants simply pass on the new genes to their next generations.
