The Avengers Legacy Challenge

«1
So I was trying to find a way to get my little sister to play The Sims 3, since she has little to no interest in it, and realized that I was going to have to combine it with something she loved to get her to at least try it. And as it is, there's really nothing she loves more than, well... the Avengers. So to get her to play, I came up with a legacy challenge based on that.

Update: This is all for me now. LONG LIVE THE AVENGERS (Civil War broke my soul)

The point of this challenge is to have ten generations, with each generation based on one of the Avengers. Not all of the Avengers are represented, obviously, since that would be like a fifty-generation challenge, but I tried to include the most popular. Minus ant-man. Just... no.

Rules:

Standard legacy rules apply, with the exception that you can use the familyfunds cheat to give yourself $10,000 at the beginning of your legacy to build a starting headquarters.

THE CAST

Founder: The founder can be whoever you want, male or female, or a couple if you want. They can start on any 60x60 lot and have $10,000 to start building the family headquarters. Use the familyfunds cheat to accomplish this. It’s a good a idea to have one of your founders, or you know, your only founder, invent the time machine, because you’re going to need it for generation two. Which is…

2nd Generation: Steve (Captain America). Steve must have the following traits: Brave, athletic, no sense of humor, and technophobe. You can choose the last trait or roll for it. His LTW should be "Become an Astronaut". Challenge: Steve’s heir must come from the time machine, either the future or the past. The heir may not be an elder. If you come back with an elder, feel free to remove them from the household.

3rd Generation: Thor. Thor must have the following traits: Charismatic, rebellious, easily impressed, and friendly. You can choose the last trait or roll for it. His lifetime wish should be "Leader of the Free World". Challenge: Must have an adopted brother with the Evil trait and maintain a friendship with the sibling throughout his time in the household. You can name the brother whatever you want, but personally, I kind of like… Loki.

4th Generation: Natasha (Black Widow). Natasha needs to be athletic, a great kisser, perceptive, and disciplined. Choose the last trait or roll for it. Her lifetime wish should be "International Superspy". Challenge: After her heir is born, you have to kill her husband. You can choose how to do it, but it must be done after the first heir is born. If you choose to resurrect the sim, that’s up to you, but any ghostly offspring do not count toward your legacy.

5th Generation: Bruce (The Hulk). Bruce should be hot-headed, a genius, good, and a loner. Obviously, you can choose the last trait or roll for it. His lifetime wish should be "World Renowned Surgeon". Challenge: Bruce must make every potion on the chemistry station and marry an imaginary friend or remain best friends with it throughout his time in the household. Also, if you want to make him green, feel free.

6th Generation: Tony (or Toni, if you prefer a girl) (Iron Man). Tony/Toni must have the following traits: Genius, flirty, vehicle enthusiast, and handy. The last trait is yours to choose, or you can roll for it. His or her lifetime wish should be Monster Maker, because simbot? Iron suit? Close enough. Mummies do not count for this challenge. It must be three simbots. If you get them through aspiration points or inventing, that’s up to you. Challenge: Must have a car worth $40,000 or more. Must max both handiness and inventing skills.

7th Generation: Clint (Hawkeye). Clint was hard to do, but I think he should be rebellious, handy (in the comic books, he made his own upgraded arrows), a schmoozer, and athletic. He should want to become a Superstar Athlete. Challenge: He must own a falcon. Because the game didn’t give me a freaking hawk.

8th Generation: Peter (Spiderman). Peter should be brave, have a good sense of humor, be handy and have a photographer’s eye. His lifetime wish should be Acrobat, but if you don't have Showtime, you can make him The Tinkerer. I saw The Amazing Spiderman, guys. That automatic lock on his door? The webbing? The guy can tinker. Challenge: Peter must complete at least two of the photography collections or one photography collection and one challenge.

9th Generation: Wade. Alas, poor Deadpool was not an Avenger. So its up to Wanda (Scarlet Witch) to carry on the line. Wanda should be shy, neurotic, family-oriented, and perceptive. Her LTW is to be surrounded by family. Challenge: Wanda must be a twin. She must also learn all five spells in Lady Ravendancer’s Goth Book O’ Spells. If you don’t have the Gothique pack or the book, I’ll look up a mod for you to use. She’s gotta have magic, guys.

And finally:

10th Generation: Logan (Wolverine). Logan needs to be a loner, as well as mean spirited, a daredevil, and rebellious. His lifetime wish should be Jack of all Trades... because he is a man of many talents. Mostly snark, but again, they don't offer that in the Sims. Challenge: Logan needs to own a motorcycle, max out the martial arts skill, and own a dog with a maxed out hunting skill.

Really guys, nothing? Maybe I'm just impatient because I can't sleep. But I'd really like some feedback! :)

Hmmm, I think it's a good start, but you need more than just the traits and name in each generation to make it interesting ;) The generations should have more in common with the people they're based on than that alone, for example Tony's equivalent could aim to climb the business ladder and have a huge house and be a ladies man :)

It sounds to me though like your sister is just not interested, you can't make her if she simply doesn't care... Then again, you never know ;)

Edit: I should point out that I've never build a legacy challenge like this, so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice ^^ It's where I'd start, though :)

Thanks you for some feedback! I was thinking of having Tony's LTW being an inventing one, or heartbreaker, Steve's being astronaut (because its the only military-based one), etc. I just wondered if anyone was even interested.

And my sister likes the game, but gets bored easily. I thought maybe giving her a specific set of goals would help.

Thank you again for replying! :)

Have you tried your idea on your sister? See how she responds ;) I really like the avengers, too, and think this sounds interesting :) I probably won't try it because I already have too many saves and two stories, but others probably will :)

Obviously, there's the added problem that almost all of the heirs would be boys. I'll try to come up with alternative girls names for them, but I think Thor is a lost cause.

Haha, yeah, it might be tricky for him! :D At least you can control what gender your baby is going to be (you eat apples for boys and watermelons for girls) ;)

I just read through your edited post, it's looking good so far! :)

Are you planning on trying this yourself or is it mainly for your sister? :)

Will you be posting it on here or on a blog? :) I'll try to read it, but I'm already behind on so many stories so it might take me a while :/

I don't know? I've never done this before. Steve was just born, but I'm not sure on how to take pictures.

I don't know? I've never done this before. Steve was just born, but I'm not sure on how to take pictures.

When you're in game you press C to take a photo :) It then gets saved into the screenshots folder :) You get to it like this: Computer-->Libraries-->Documents-->ElectronicArts-->TheSims3-->Screenshots :) You can then upload them to blogspot or wordpress that way :)

To add a picture in here, you need to upload the somewhere else, like photobucket for example. You get the image code on there, press Img on here, paste it in, press Img again and there it is ;)

Hope all my rambling makes sense :)

Edit: Dear God, that's a lot of smilies!! oO

Edit2: Personally, I use blogspot for both my stories and find it very easy to use. I'm using wordpress for my website, which isn't too bad but I found it more irritating at first ^^ Both are free :)

I think this is a good start, but you need to have goals within the generations.

For example (and these are only examples. You could use these, or different ones, but these are examples):

Steve: Must marry and stay faithful to his wife, and his wife must work from home or be a stay-at-home mom. (Like what she would be if in his original time period)

Tony: Must date at least 5 different people before he/she has a family.

And apparently Wade Wilson was not, in fact, one of the Avengers. Bummer. I love Deadpool. I'll have to replace him with a female Avenger. Maybe Mockingbird?

Yay, glad to hear it's going well mostly :) Can't believe I forgot about having an aim in each generation, I feel so stupid for forgetting about that oO

I'm trying to think about the rules of something like a ditft. There are rules about the job, the lifetime wish, their spouse/girlfriend, children. You need to have some pretty specific stuff sometimes, so that there are several goals to meet in each generation, but I like where this is going!

    Rules:
Tony is moving to number five, because by the time you get done with him, you need to have a car worth at least $40,000. Also, his LTW should be monster maker because, really simbots? Iron suit? (Close enough.) Mummies will not count for this challenge. It must be three simbots. If you get them through aspiration points, that’s up to you, but I really suggest you use the inventing skill.

Bruce: His challenge is to make every potion using the chemistry station, and he must either marry or remain best friends with an imaginary friend. Turned human, obviously.

Thor: He’s gotta have an adopted sibling with the evil trait. And he should maintain a friendship with him through the game. You could name this sibling anything you want, but personally? I don’t know, I like the sound of Loki.

Peter: He needs to fly. Wait, wrong Peter. Peter Parker needs to complete at least two photo collections.

Clint: He must own a falcon, because sadly, there are no hawks in the sims. DO NOT ARGUE. MY LAW IS ABSOLUTE. Okay, you can argue.

Natasha: Must be widowed after having an heir. You can kill the husband if you want, or just try to outlive him. NO AMBROSIA.

Logan: Must max out the martial arts skill, because in the comic books, he was a karate master.

Steve: Steve must use the time machine to travel to either the past or future and produce an heir that way. Obviously, if you bring back an elder, you need to try again, because then the legacy would die.

Lastly: The secret avenger who shall later be named! (Hint: it’s NOT Ant-man. Seriously. Ant-man?)

    What do think? Eh?

    These are some good updates!

But don't be afraid to give some absolutes. Like for Natasha you can say that you must kill her husband, but leave it open as to how, because if she doesn't outlive him then the generation doesn't work quite right.

Ooh, what do you think about the last Avenger being Wiccan? He was a Young Avenger, so not technically an Avenger, but he could do magic!

She's Magneto's daughter, and was part of the 1960s recruits.

I updated the rules. I still feel like there's something little missing. A nemesis, maybe? Superheroes have to have a nemesis.

A nemesis is a good idea :) It could be something that moves through all generations? That way, they'd all be connected by more than just genetics :)

Have you asked your sister by now what she thinks of all this? :)
