Hi everyone! I am totally new to building in the sims but this seems like a lot of fun and a great way to get involved in the sims community. I am hoping to join in on this build-n-share :) I was looking at the houses done on previous build-n-shares and you are all so talented!

Welcome, harm_michelle! I started with BnShare way back in the 3rd (I think!) challenge and really credit my development as a builder with my participation in this challenge. I hope you find it as rewarding as I did :)

I've never participated in one of these before. I wanted too but could never find the time. I decided to give this challenge a try and am currently working on the house. It's been so long since I've uploaded anything not that I've stopped building, I just got lazy in the uploading department.

Anyhow, the entries so far are quite spectacular.

Looks like I won't be able to enter this challenge after all. My new laptop has decided it hates the sims and keeps crashing whenever I try to run it. :(

Only a week left...I need to stop going away from the forums for more than a day at a time. I think I might have to put my current WIP on hold for this one...I'll see if I can get it done :)

I just can't seem to find time to build this week! I did finally find an inspiration pic to get me started though. I had trouble deciding which style of build to go for with purple as a design color, but I think I have it figured out now. How is everyone else doing?

Think I am going to have to skip this one too. I have my shell finished but with everything else I have to do, I just do not think I am going to finish.

It is good to see that others are making some progress, as for me - Well I have the house built, I keep changing the roof - over and over and over again, can't seem to get it the way I want it, so I work inside for a while and then come back and change the roof again :D The color palette is driving me insane, can't find a purple that I like, either too dark or too light but I will come up with something - I hope  At least all the rooms are designated and most have furniture, but I still need to cas, granny Sara has upgraded all the appliances while I am trying to make decisions on colors and patterns, hopefully I will get it done before I have to go out of town next week - I am gonna do my best :-)

    LEVEL: Advanced

LOT SIZE ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 30x30,

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS:I chose to build on a 30x30 lot which didn't leave much room for a separate building for the granny flat, so I built it all into one building, Sarah has her own entrance with her own garden and access to the back yard. She has a small kitchen on the first floor, and stairs up to a living room loft, She has her own washer and dryer in her restroom. The main part of the house has a garage, and a large living and dinging room. there is also a half bath just off the dining room. The kitchen has a bar to eat quick meals on, and a door to the patio, the second floor of the main house is the master suite. The third floor is home to the children and the laundry, There are three bedrooms Hugh has a room designed for imaginations. Nicole has a space to study and a large bed. The baby has a small and simple room which could be converted layer for a play room. There is a large windowless laundry room, and two bathrooms. The main area upstairs is a reading, and office room. The back yard has a tree house for Hugh, and several other play things. There is a vegetable garden as well as a flower garden. The entire house was designed for the fantastic view of the ocean.

    LINK TO MEDIA: http://s936.photobucket.com/albums/ad201/Milygo/BNS 101-102/?albumview=slideshow

    LEVEL: Intermediate

LOT SIZE ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 40x40 furnished: $198,892

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: I tried to go with what the family wanted, but had a lot of distractions this week...so I might have missed something. I tried to stick with neutral grays and browns, with the purple thrown in. In rooms I knew were for Jenny Foster, I went with a bit more purple like the Master Bedroom and her office. I made areas for each person outdoors, as I made the family all love the out doors. The lot will fit on any 40x40 lot and since they wanted it on the beach, I put a back gate on the yard's fence so they had easy access to getting to the beach.

    CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Yes please

CUSTOM CONTENT USED: Only using sim store items and exp and stuff packs.

Everyone's houses look lovely - it makes me wish I was able to do one.

I started a house but I definately won't have the time. It's a pity because I indulged recently in some store items that would have been perfect for this build and haven't had a chance to use them elsewhere :)

I think I'm just going to have to wait for the little builds. (On the bright side I've finally... almost... finished my Centennial Vale house.)

Couple of quick questions. Does the granny flat (we call it a mother-in-law suite here!) have to be a flat, or can it have a 2nd story? And do the 5 bedrooms include the one for the granny flat? Thanks!

A quick question, I've put the four bedrooms in the main house but I've put the two boys in the same bedroom/nursery, is this ok?

The granny flat can have 2 stories if you have the budget for it. The important thing is that it have a separate entrance from the main house. The main house should have (at least) 4 bedrooms. The granny flat should have (at least) 1 bedroom. You can always exceed expectations if you have the budget for it!

You're using one of the bedrooms as a guest bedroom? That's fine as long as the boys' bedroom meets both their needs.

Well I guess it was just wishful thinking that real life would give me a chance to finish the Generations House - I have not really had a chance to sim for the past few days and I have to go out of town tomorrow and will not be able to sim until I get home and that will be past the deadline. I haven't had time to check out the other entries but I look forward to doing that when I get back. Good luck everyone.

Excellent, thanks! Worried I was going to have to remodel the whole room. :)

    LEVEL: Intermediate

LOT SIZE ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 40x40 furnished: $152,536 (I am hoping this is accurate since the price seemed to drop when I added the family then moved them back out when I was done taking pictures. This is how much it says it is in my game, so hopefully its right.

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: The family is shown in some of the pictures but they are not uploaded nor do I intend to upload them. The thing is, I tried to make Russel a newborn but Jenny would not cooperate and instead had a girl no matter how many times I tried and I even force fed her apples like crazy (I think that still works). So, I gave up on the family. The lot is next to the beach and I believe I gave everyone in the family what they wanted. The yard has a pool, garden, BBQ area, sandpit, and a tree-house. The inside has a spacious kitchen, dining room, and living room. There is also a breakfast area with a juice bar, a small office, and laundry area. Sarah Jones has the entire second floor which can be entered from either of the garages or from the main house. Her floor has a bedroom, bathroom, large eat-in kitchen, and a living area with a tv and fire place.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Yes please, I haven't uploaded anything for over a year.

CUSTOM CONTENT USED: No CC. I may have used a couple store items.
