How are you feeling about the sims 4 and its current state ?

I am very much enjoying my game with all the packs but the bugs are a bit bad.

I levelled all a toddlers skills and work hard to do so - there’s a bug where you don’t get the trait. So I had to cheat to get the trait.

I took same sim to drama club but levelled him too much as a kid so that when he was a teen he didn’t get promoted properly and I lose 3 days before I realised I had to lose progress by skipping a day and then get it back again.

And after that I didn’t get the trophy you are supposed to get, so I had to cheat to demote him so he could get promoted again.

It shouldn’t be this hard. And also there are missed opportunities in some of the packs - you couldn’t let me see the sims on the fairground ride in go to school? Or give the mermaids more?

From my experience with previous versions of the Sims many of the problems above can come from not having a powerful enough PC. Even with Sims 4, the more packs I added, the more laggy it got, until eventually it would not Save. That was mainly on upto i3 non-gaming machines. Now I use an i7 with a mid-range 4gb graphics card and 16gb RAM gaming PC. With a large household in a large house with most Packs etc, it is a bit laggy, but at least it will play and save. In a house with nowhere near as much PC grunt demand needed it runs fine.
I recall people in the Sims 1 Forum moaning they could not even run the game, and it transpired they were using laptops mainly. Most games have a recommended PC grunt specs. Min and Max. The Min is to encourage people to fork out their money, but I would suggest that even the Max specs are not good enough. The more Packs etc you add the more power is needed. Simple.
As to new aspects not meshing well with old aspects in the software, that's an entire whole thread!

My systems were well-equipped and I had not experienced most problems others were having unless it was a developer's error like in IP EP. Some people system was not up to snuff and blamed the program and that happens in other games as well.

That may be fine for some issues but the most powerful computer on the planet is not going to fix problems caused by bad coding, which is where the most numerous and aggravating issues are. That is what EA needs to address, quickly and strongly.

I did say if there were any problems, I encountered it was due to Developer's error as I can account for my systems and no one elses.

I am so sick of Sims just walking into my current Sims house uninvited and asking to be their best friend, then getting annoyed when my Sim says "no".
The sim I am currently playing is an actor and the director asked my sim 3 times in the space of half an hour to be his best friend. Twice, he walked right into the house, and the third time he actually got on stage and asked my Sim while he was performing! The Sim I am playing is best friends with his wife and doesn't want to break that bond.
Of all the broken things in the game so far, this is the most annoying.

I would like the camera to be fixed in the game, it's very annoying. Also, I still want what's missing in the Base.

I think Sims 4 went bad when EA decided to bring in (social) politics and islamic religion. Because this brings in opinions and emotions about subjects.

Instead of trying to press their political opinion on the players I would have wished for bug fixture and content that is useful for the majority of players. Pronoms and Hijabs is not (interesting that EA failed to bring in kippas in the game or a christian veil in the wedding pack.) So sad all this! There are hundreds of bugs to be fixed. But EA's most important subject is sexual orientation when about 80% of the world population is heterosexual and this is no hate for people being orientated otherwise. It's just like it is.

For EA it is all so simple. When Korean players complained about the shrines in Snowy Escape EA was quick to fix the problem. But bringing in Hijabs and Burkinis and Takkes although they are highly political symbols of a women degrading system in the real world (we are seeing it right now brutally in the Iran).

I am so angry with EA. Sims 4 used to be my wonderful dreamworld. It used to be an escape. But nowadays it is corrupted. And why? Because of some cheap and greedy fashions and social media trends.

Right now the game is borderline unplayable for me. I wanted to get back into it. I really did. I wanted to go back and enjoy all of the expansions that I barely got to play with, but there are still major bugs dating all the way back to the City Living expansion that I've basically lost hope in ever seeing fixed.

Those bugs are the least of the game's current problems though. There are two that are standing at the forefront, and getting in the way of my enjoyment of the game. Changes to the game's wants and more specifically FEARS are one problem -- especially the Fear of the Dark bug that's recently started to plague games with no apparent solution. Another is my sim's apparent popularity, with everyone wanting to be their best friend all at once, after a single conversation.

I feel like the focus has been on changing up the design of the base game lately, and while I understand the sentiment... I don't think it's a good idea. The base game was fine the way it was, it didn't need a face lift -- or, well... it does. It's definitely starting to show its age, but it needs the kind of face lift that comes with a new installment in the franchise, not a halfhearted change to existing systems that weren't broken to begin with.

I definitely think focusing on bug fixes is probably the best option. Especially the new ones that affect everyone. Once that's done, you can start fiddling with the base game again.

I agree they missed out on a lot hey. How about the integration with the Scout career? Cheerleading itself builds up Exercise skill, but it doesn't count when trying to get the 'stay fit' badge..Haven't checked out if football-excersize is lacking the same..

I'm truely exited for the new baby life state, but I have to say that the game is currently in a very bad state when it comes to bugs. This is especially sad for those new players tuning in and out because they don't know that it was working much better a few months ago.

My daughter told me yesterday that a lot of the kids in her class were talking about the Sims 4 lately, but all of them were on the same boat saying it was boring and not worth it. Maybe some of the budget for promoting the free base game should have been used to ensure the game would be in a decent state bugwise on the 18th of October.

I’ve updated my game every time there’s been an update. I haven’t noticed any major annoyances or bugs. The only thing that is an inconvenience is having to remake or update cc/mods after a game update but that is what it is. My game is loaded with cc/mods and runs smooth like butter, so overall I’m having a lovely time in game, although I confess I rarely gameplay and majorly use TS4 for cc making and staging. So maybe I’m just not playing enough to experience the grievances others have.

I'm enjoying the sims 4 right now, I just got into it a month or two ago. that being said it has bugs that need fixing, and the developers don't seem to be able to accomplish this or at least some of it. Even with the bugs I still play and have fun, but EA please work on these things.
-(Important) household inventory slows game down, causes high bills, because it's overloaded with tons of seeds, sell them one by one is only option. Option to sell stack or purge house inventory needed.
-cat still jumps on furniture after being trained and the option to lecture is hit or miss as to whether or not it appears.
-your employees at a vet clinic, are hit or miss as to whether they do the job or just stand around after seeing this I went into build mode to edit some things like lights hanging down, doors, and walls, etc. just in case the employees where being blocked by something, since I built my clinic from scratch. Bug still happens.
-(Important) simulation lag (when I give a command sim just stands still for 15 seconds before acting).
-chickens have too short a life span you can't raise the relationship bar to 1/4 full before they die.
-objects like plates disappear out my hand then reappear 4 seconds later.
    - (annoying/upsetting) sims insult each other way too much, it would make sense if the sim was in a bad mood, but this happens way too often.
-sims go to the sink after using toilet and walk to the one on the other side of the house rather than use the one 5 feet away.
-the world that comes with cottage living looks nice but there's nothing to do.
-(opportunity) neighborhood stories could be improved and built upon, like an option to get non played characters in relationships or make a sim seek out a relationship or have non played sims earn money and buy nicer homes.
-sim disappears then re appears 5 seconds later.
-expansions and packs are too expensive, I mean they cost as much as a brand-new game almost.
-little to do with all the money you've built up.
-sims sit down for 15 seconds during a date at same table then get up and sit somewhere else for no reason, I think even if you have them in a group this is annoying.
-getting people to come to your guided meditation via simstigram either doesn't work properly or I don't know how to use it, but I haven't tried it that much.
-sexual or flirt related social options appear between family members. I mean the sims don't automatically do them, but they appear as options.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy the sims 4 and play it every day pretty much, but the load times and bugs hinder the experience. I know this post probably should be somewhere else but I'm so new here that I can't make my own posts yet, so I'm kind of using this space to mention some things that have been on my mind regarding the sims.

Overall, my experience with Sims 4 hasn't been all bad. It took me a long time to switch from 3 to 4 because I'm a creature of habit so it took me a long while to get used to it and how different it was to 3, but now I've come to love it.

With that being said, there a couple of sticking points for me lately that have me super frustrated every time I play:

    1. What is up with people randomly walking into my house, unannounced and uninvited (even when my sims are sleeping), asking to be best friends? The only options are yes or no. If you say yes, you're losing your current best friend relationship. I always have my spouses be best friends because I find it makes the relationship stronger, so if you say yes to someone else, it affects your current relationship. If you say no, the friendship takes a hit and both sims get angry at each other. Ummmm... ok then!

    2. Why is everyone so angry and evil all the time?! No matter who it is and what their traits are, they are always mean to each other and hurling insults. It's an automatic thing and it is SO annoying! Date nights get ruined... holidays get ruined... relationships are destroyed... I am SO tired of rebuilding relationships and sentiments over and over again.

When these two things are fixed then I'll be a happy simmer again, but until then... I will remain frustrated... :#

I feel with all the base game updates we've received over the years...
    1) sims should recognize when they're in the middle of a conversation and not walk off, breaking game play imagination.
    2) sims should automatically sit and stay at table when eating.
    3) HSY calendar activities should not block the ability to add holidays and/or events to calendar.
    4) we should have the ability to turn all occults off in the save options menu... although occults are fine, I don't want occults in every save.
    5) the lag... need I say more.
    6) you sold me smarter sims... you know they are not smarter and I am still waiting... Please fix.
    7) every sim should not be afraid of thunder... especially those with the brave trait.
    8) all the sims no matter the difference in their traits feel the same. They all want the same things.. Please do something to fix this.
    9) there's more but I'll stop here.

In short, I feel that for the $80.00 US dollars I paid for the base game, sims 4 in current state, now with all the dlc I purchased, is still not worth the 80 I paid... keep in mind, you sold me smarter sims. And I am here for the game play, not the build and deco items you're selling...

I am bored out of my mind with it. Too much focus on CAS, little things (Kits), and promotion of the game to new players. The game has so many bugs now that never get fixed, and the attitude from EA is that they don't care as long as they are "inclusive" and have the latest pop stars or Youtubers on board with whatever promotion they're doing at any given moment. Their social media presence has become more important to them than the game itself.

I am SO angry. When I was a Sim Master (Sims 1-3), we took the feedback, bug reports, posts that indicated an issue and took them directly to Maxis. Now, I feel like NO ONE in development is actually playing the game anymore. If they were, then these issues would be fixed, or at the very least addressed and they'd ask us for feedback, what are we seeing on the forums, what are the big issues? Now it feels like they just want to pump out more and more content and it just breaks the game even more. I've played a science sim, the inventor machine is misaligned, I'm sure it's an easy fix, but it's been prevalent for ages. Now, I have a new sim couple that can't even SLEEP in the same double bed. I'm now playing a sim in the medicine field, and so many issues! She can't bring food to the patients if she's in the same room, the task cancels out, but if she's on the other side of the hospital, no problem. The waiting room is FULL of waiting patients, and no one attends to them. My sim stops any task she's doing to admire the mid-century furniture in her home, because she likes it. She stops showering to admire the sink. Seriously??? And don't even get me started on the wants and fears. Whose idea was that? It was great in Sims2, well done and balanced, this is absolutely ridiculous. If my sim likes 2 or 3 different music genres, her wants are to just listen to those 3 stations, on rotation. Also, when my sim is practicing on the analyzer at the science career building, she gets 3 robot upgrade parts every few seconds.
I hardly come on here anymore because it's so frustrating to read the posts from the moderators when all we see are placating posts, no real answers, no real help, no real Maxis people playing this game anymore. The community is much more help than Maxis will ever be.

I still can't get past the plastic look and babyish gameplay, as well as that there still isn't a storytelling feature like as was in the Sims 2, which all of the base game promotions implied there would be.
I remember you from university, I still have your story.

I presume you mean making them compatible with modern computers. If they did then the new generations of players would discover what the veterans from the old days already know, that TS 4 is junk by comparison and that TS 5 will be more of the same if not worse.

As well as fixing the bugs, which they just left for the modders. That's like publishing a book with no proofreading, and being pretty proud of leaving it like that. Like making a movie or TV show and leaving in all of the bloopers, without even making a joke of it, just leaving it like that.

There are several things that others have touched on that annoy me BUT ther are several things that I love about the game as well.

One thing that annoys me is that my sim just bought a restaurant and I was so happy until the second day. There was a thunderstorm and one of my waiters got scared. Soon, he was screaming at everyone in the resteraunt so they started scream and a pandemic was born. The cooks, host, waiters, guests and my sim were in a constant uncontrollable state of panic.

I had to close the restaurant so everyone would go home. It happens every time there is a thinderstorm!! And thunderstorms in Newceest seem to be to default weather. I've had more stormy days than anything else.

At first it was funny seeing the panic animation. But all hilarity soon disapated as it spread.

Another frustration is that you can't easily change the traits, relationships and ages for NPC's. I get that when you personally create a sim, you're personally locking in those settings. But if you didn't create it, you should be able to change it to fit your world.

Things I love include the ease of building, the ability to modify most parts of the worlds..

There are other likes and dislikes but this post is already long.

Bottom line, if Sims 5 comes out tomorrow, I'll likely not buy it until I know that many things do NOT mirror Sims 4.

I give Sims 4 a 🌟 🌟 🌟 out of 5 🌟's. That means in my opinion, it lost 2 🌟's from when I first started playing it.
