@alanmichael1 Yes, it was wrong in my opinion, but I'm sure nobody thinks you did it out of malice or anything, just lack of knowledge about the alternatives.
@SimplyJen That's fully understandable, I have all the discs too. :) For me it was actually worse than that on two occasions. Even though all the packs were checked the save wouldn't load, instead I got this error message: After that I unchecked and rechecked all the packs, and then it worked fine again:
@sophie4fv Yay, that's really good news! :) Many people cannot fix these things without a lot of help, but you managed to do it! I think you should be proud of yourself. :)
@sophie4fv Hi to you too! :) That depends on whether you have a dual graphics laptop or not. If not, turning on vsync in the Nvidia Control Panel should work. You can easily check it by starting the game, bring up the cheat line, and type in "fps on" without quotation marks, and then Enter. Look in the top right corner of…
Yes, I know it is. :) Which means that it's technically incorrect to say that .dbc files are created by "other players". They certainly can be, but not necessarily. The ones I have in my DCCache folders aren't. As always I think it's important to get the facts straight.
@Chi5678 Yep, you definitely have a point there! I remember when I first started playing TS3 almost nine years ago, coming directly from TS1, that I immediately noticed the difference, and missed the way it is done in TS1.
@sophie4fv Have you also fixed it so your game frame rate, aka FPS, is capped at 60, or whatever your monitors refresh rate is? That's MUCH more important than getting your graphics card recognized. If you don't do that your nice 1660 Ti will suffer badly, and eventually burn itself out, and it could happen sooner than you…
@MaMaTwinklebird When you get tired of playing through Origin (which probably won't take long) you can just uninstall the game, also with the help of Origin, and install it from your disks instead, and then update to patch 1.67 with the Super Patcher. @alanmichael1 I can't believe you actually recommended using Origin to…
@GalacticGal In my games they always chat at the dinner table, literally always, and it was the same in Sims 1 too. And when they watch TV together they always talk to each other aswell. There must be something very unusual with your game and/or installation if these basic interactions are/were missing altogether. Luckily…
@amp107 Do you still have access to this Lenovo laptop? If so I'd be very interested to see a DxDiag report on it, in order to look for possible reasons and explanations as to why it had such problems with running TS3. I've seen people saying this several times on these forums, but still don't understand what they mean…
@Karritz Yep, that's an invaluable feature all right... guess where I first learned about it... in the Sims 1 Base game manual many years ago! It really is a good thing that they haven't changed all the key commands from the first game, many/most? of them are the same (if I remember correctly, that is...)
@dark So the fan was apparently on its last legs then, hopefully they'll put a new one in without charging you an arm and a leg for it. Is it a computer store that you know well and trust from past experience? You have to choose carefully, because some of the personnel in those stores aren't always very knowledgeable when…
@dark It's age can certainly have something to do with it, but not necessarily, because I've seen quite a few people with brand new HP laptops still having severe overheating problems. One person had temps between 55-70 degrees C with the computer on idle! That sounds completely crazy if you ask me. My gaming laptops with…
@SimAlexandria He isn't actually. If you look closer you can see that he's not touching his nose, instead he's put his index finger against his lips, or maybe the fingertip inside his mouth, sucking on it. It's a pity that Corey's thought bubble is empty, otherwise we probably would have gotten a better clue as to what…
And all the time that particular piece of knowledge was there, patiently waiting for you on page 2 of the Sims 3 Base game manual... :) All the key commands:
@dark Yes, please do! It's always interesting and valuable to get feedback, especially if/when people find solutions to their problems, whether they are computer- and/or game related. :)
@dark It seems like many/most HP laptops are prone to overheating, I've seen a lot of people all over the internet complaining about it, and asking for help and advice, if there's anything they can do to avoid it. And in your case it looks like the integrated graphics chip on the i7-7700HQ (Intel HD Graphics 630) has been…
@dark I'd be very interested to see a DxDiag report on your computer if that's possible? How to gather information on your PC using DxDiag After the report is finished, upload it to Pastebin and put a link to it in your next comment here. And about your CPU temperature, I think 100 degrees sounds rather high. What software…
And those who want the whole venue where the two stands are included, Al Fresco Street Market, can buy it for only 494 SimPoints, (regular price 1710 SP) on the Daily Deals Page in one month, October 10-11, depending on your timezone. :) Check out the Final DD List for more info.
@dark What method did you use to turn V-sync on? Why is that? Unless you're using a skyhigh resolution, with a strong card like the 1060 you should be able to run the game with all the settings on the highest possible.
