Good to hear. That also solves the drinking water bug. If you ever get a sim that constantly drinks water just play another household for a few minutes. It's worked for me every time I've encountered it.

Haha. Yeah, but this really needed to be added. I've had house fires that would not go out and were going on for many in-game hours. I'd have to reload from a last save.

I haven't updated yet, but I have a suggestion. Try making a new sim in a new home and playing it for a few minutes. Save your game, then try going back to the previous family. I had a similar problem and doing this solved it.
