    > But regardless of the mod throwing script errors, we really need to see the resulting script error logs (not the on-screen notification) at NRaas in order to help interpret them. Without actually getting to read the logs I would say that could be anything from something totally harmless or not really much of an error to an early warning that your game is just about to explode into a Fiery Ball Visible From Space™. Hopefully something much closer to the former than the latter. :)

Ah okay I get you! I'll try to find them as some point. Thank you again! :)

My sims 3 game is really dim when I'm in fullscreen, tried about everything there was to solve this, nothing has helped, and running the game in window mode (on the lowest graphic settings) makes it unplayable - if this information is of any use I have Windows 10

@Bonusss33 - I'm going to assume that you are not playing on a laptop while in battery mode (as opposed to plugged in for power), but correct me if that's not right.

May I ask though what is so horrible about windowed mode and why the lowest graphics settings are required? What do you have for a graphics card and are its drivers up to date? Can we get some specs on this system (processor, RAM as well as graphics card)?

I've been playing in windowed mode for years, not because of Win 10 interference but just because I prefer it that way. Vertical sync doesn't work, but explicit fps capping does (more about that if you need the info). Applying Windowed Borderless Gaming can help make the setup much more tolerable for those more comfortable in full screen, though.

    Hello!

I recently started to dabble in making custom worlds again. I made a little test world and did some terrain painting. Once I clicked to edit it in Game, the mountains and river terrain paint was there but all the grass was covered in a layer of solid brown. WhenI zooms out only the certain cunck I'm looking at is solid brown. Not even a grass texture. But if I look to the other side of the island the texture/paint is how it should be. Nonetheless, once I zoom over there the grass paint turns into solid brown. (mountain and sand textures remaining)
If anyone knows how to fix this please help!

    Best Regards,
    Liz

    Hi,
I am a new member and I have a few problems with my game. I do have quite a lot of CC which is most likely what is causing the problems. However, here are a few of the problems I have. 1) my firefighter career does not work even if I play in Twinbrook and even if move the firehouse to a bigger lot. Even if I click "Go Here" on the lot where there is a fire the emergency goes away. 2) If I try to carry on to more than 2 generations of the same family, I get so many glitches. Makes it really hard to play legacy challenges which I love. 3) I had a weird thing happen where I sent a Sim to Egypt and she was a photographer. If I had her take to many photos of the sites in Egypt, the game froze.
If you or anyone else has suggestions about how I can fix these issues, please let me know. Thanks

Hello! I've tried Reddit, Youtube, other forums, and many other things, but I cannot find the answer to my problem- so here I am.

Basically, for context, I have been playing on a sims 3 save file in Sunset Valley. It's Week 10, Day 6, with my immortal vampire sim, his elderly wife, their kid, and their unicorn. He has maxed out several skills (gardening, handiness, piano, riding, etc...), and accomplished a ton of stuff. I planned to take him and his kid out fishing together on Saturday (it is Friday in game). I don't want to lose this save.

Here's my problem. At around 3:00pm, the game crashes to the desktop. I've tried deleting my cache, removing bad cc (it isn't cc that is causing this- i know because its been fine for the past 2 months), repairing the game through Origin, repairing the game through Windows, resetting the town through nraas (like you're supposed too after 8-10 weeks to prevent lag)... nothing works. Also, unlike before, my game gets an error message: "Missing Object Warning: Some of your objects couldn't be loaded and were replaced." on all saves I've tried (two of them, but they still both crash after around three minutes). Also, I have all my store content downloaded and all expansions are turned on when starting the game. Despite the warning, nothing was missing, no objects, lots, townies... etc. so I'm confused as to what changed to make it show the error, and also why it's crashing.

Here's the error config,,, xcpt file thing, I know it's important:

____________________________________________________________________________________ (to space this out better)

    Here's some more info.
    1) My game has worked fine until the game crashed around a few weeks ago, and now keeps crashing frequently.
    2) My specs are fine- I checked them beforehand and my computer is also built specifically for gaming.
    3) The "Missing Objects Error" appeared after it crashed a few days back (when I tried to come on again). I have all my expansion packs turned on and all my store content, however, it still says that objects are missing.
    4) I have 8gb of RAM allocated to the game, half of what my RAM is- which I know is a reccommended thing to do. This seems to help the game's quality slightly (it already ran smoothly before), however, it did not fix the crashes.

I wont lose this game (i.. r e f u se,,, i've made so much progress). I don't want to lose my boy Orion,,, please help me!

I will literally provide all the info needed. I'll try anything.

    Thanks!

@himbocowboy - I have two suggestions to begin with.

1 - Can you try removing or renaming your entire TS3 user game folder in Documents to see if the game behaves better on the fresh, no-content game folder that will spawn to take its place on the next launch? You won't have any added content or saved games at all this way, but they will still be safe back in the pulled out folder during testing.

2 - Whatever it is you did to reserve 8 GB (?!) of RAM for the game, please undo that. TS3 on Windows is a 32-bit only application and as such cannot ever address more than just under 4 GB. If it is forced to do so, or more like allowed to do so, the game will lose its mind and crash or chronically Error 12 upon trying to save which is just as bad because no one wants to play a game they cannot save. The game is Large Address Aware (LAA) and will reach for more RAM all on its own when it needs to, with the end of the Safe Zone being at over 3.5 GB for most of us (with 3.7 GB being a hard upper limit).

I am looking for a new laptop and the one I found that I liked was a Lenovo Yoga-9i and I wanted to know if that would be able to run Sims 3 and 4 well?

Processor: Intel 11th Gen Core i7 EVO
    Storage: 512GB SSD
    Memory: 16GB
    Graphics: Intel Iris Xe Graphics

I really don’t know much about computers so any advice or feedback would be great!

I can run the sims 3 but the graphics are nauseating. It is so bright even with ts3 settings on lowest brightness and my screen settings on lowest brightness. If I change the resolution in ts3 settings to 3840x2160 it gets better and looks almost normal but then the UI is teeny tiny. If I change my devices display resolution and ts3 to like 1920x1200 it still looks horrible. I only run it on 4-6 processors, which is something I have to do with a lot of my older games so that's not a big deal. I had similar problems with ts2 but fixed that easily with a graphics rule maker and fewer processors, etc. I just want to play the sims 3 with normal looking graphics but it seems my computer is too new or my graphics are too new or i dont even know for me to find any solutions online! How can I make the graphics high quality (for like the sims and the furniture/houses) and also look normal?
Please help I miss playing ts3!

I apologize if this has already been asked/discussed but how do you remove a mod on the registry? I removed all the files from my mods folder but I am still experiencing the issue as if it wasn’t removed.

Hello, I have a question. Will I be able to play the base game installed in the new EA Desktop App combined with expansions installed in Origin? Through Xbox Game Pass, I have access to EA Plus on the EA Desktop App (this deal does not work with Origin). I can download TS3 Starter Pack but presently there is no option to purchase other EPs on the EA Desktop App. Would I be able to download TS3 starter game on EA Desktop App, then purchase expansions on Origin and play that way?

Hello 👋🏻 I recently reinstalled the game. Added a few new mods but I noticed some of my recipes disappeared (mostly recipes from Supernatural expansion) can I reset those somehow with Master Controller? Any ideas welcome!

Hey everyone! I'm basically having the same exact problem discussed in this link https://forums.thesims.com/en_Us/discussion/136195/drop-down-menus-disappear-instantly-help-12-01-09

I've also tried everything that the OP tried in order to fix it, in both cases, nothing worked. The original thread didn't mention any solutions. I already contacted the OP and am waiting for their reply on how they fixed the issue but I am hoping that people would help me here as well. Thank you. <3

Hey! I am new here and because of tech issues. My Surface pro 6 is having trouble with Sims 3, is anybody here playing on Surface too?

I've had sims 3 for three years I just downloaded it to a new computer and when I press start on the launcher it opens to a blank screen and error message, I've redownloaded it, removed the caches, put it into windowed mode, and every help guide I find is more than 6 years or older. this has happened before on a different computer but I fixed it and can't remember how (I think I just removed the caches). when I tried to check if my new computer meets the requirements I couldn't get this https://sysrqmts.com/games/the-sims-3#can-i-run-it to work I typed the first one in the box and the second I clicked out it would disappear.
this is the only computer I have at the moment could you see if my system can handle it?

Hello, I'm having a problem where my kids are not going to school. The "starts in" clock resets every day at 7am, I've tried resseting the school lot (which I'm not even sure I'm doing correctly), evicted the house hold, tried the fix homeworld and get 0 errors, reseted the whole town, and the clock resets every day for them to start school the next day.

They do have another kid in boarding school but he's being there for a while, and everybody else was going to school fine.

Is there anything else I can try or is my town corrupted.

@Lrmo89 - Given that you mention things like resetting lots, the town, and the Fix Homeworld command, I take it that you are using NRaas mods, correct? Is it possible that you have StoryProgression set up for a summer vacation?

@Lrmo89 - Assuming NRaas StoryProgression is in play and you actually have the Seasons EP, on City Hall or an in-game computer, NRaas > SP > General Options > Options: Careers > Options: School > Summer Off (and then Summer Off Days)
(SP Career add-on module also required or this isn't the issue)

If that's not it, I would suggest replacing the school with a new one. That will reset all of the sims' school performance scores to 0 (C average) who were enrolled there, but if that's important to not have happen then you could use MasterController to set them differently.

@igazor - THAT WAS IT!! I checked and the settings were all turned to yes, I didn't even know this was an option.

Thank you so much for your help! I'm so happy you're still active, every time I Google any issue an old comment of yours always point me in the right direction. We all be lost without you.

Hello everyone! New to the forums here and got back to playing The Sims 3 during the pandemic. I have a question regarding dual-GPU and will do it in bullet form below for it to be easier:

*Issue: New Laptop > Installed The Sims 3 + WA + LA + Gen + Seasons > Open Game > Error of undetected Graphics > Appears Once only

    *Specs of laptop:
    Acer Predator Helios 300
    Intel Core i5- 10300H CPU @ 2.50GHx
    RAM: 8GB
Storage: 256 NVMe SSD + 1 TB HDD
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics Integrated, NVIDIA GeFore RTX 2060 with 6G GDDR6 VRAM

*Actions: As per forums searched, Checked device config with results

    === Rating info ===
    GPU: 5 GPU Memory: 1 CPU: 3 RAM: 4 CPU Speed: 2496 Threading: 3
Adjusted CPU: 2928 RAM: 8023 Adjusted RAM: 7511 Cores: 4

    === Graphics device info ===
    Number: 0
Name (driver): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
Name (database): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 [Found: 0, Matched: 0]
    Vendor: NVIDIA
    Chipset: Vendor: 10de, Device: 1f15, Board: 14421025, Chipset: 00a1
    Driver: nvldumd.dll, Version: 27.21.14.5167, GUID: D7B71E3E-5C55-11CF-BA67-4C341BC2D635
    Driver version: 5167
    Monitor: \\.\DISPLAY1
    Texture memory: 32MB <<OVERRIDE>>
    Vertex program: 3.0
    Pixel program: 3.0
    Hardware TnL: 1

I have checked Game Help:Getting new graphics cards recognized by the game Wiki and there is a note there for Dual GPU:

"If you have dual-GPU, the deviceconfig.log report is no longer accurate. Just go by the GPU vendor's Control Panel's report when you have the game running. If that panel shows TS3W is using the dedicated GPU, then you're good to go. You can safely ignore whatever the deviceconfig.log claims."

So I checked NIVIDIA Control Panel and both ts3w.exe and Sims launcher uses the NIVIDIA dedicated GPU, also noted that the Geforce is Active once I play The Sims 3.

Question now, is the Wiki above still correct or has it been updated? Do I still have to go through the steps to change the Device ID to let the game recognize my GPU or as the wiki says it doesn't matter what the deviceconfig says anymore? I'm just concerned if I leave things be it will harm my game or GPU in the future.

Thanks! Any response will be appreciated!!

@Akiko I'm not sure what point the wiki is trying to make about the deviceconfig, except maybe to suggest that at the time it's created, the system might be using the integrated graphics chip rather than the dedicated card. That's clearly not the case here, and the info the deviceconfig reports about how the game reads your hardware is in fact accurate.

As to whether you need to do anything about it, not really. An unrecognized card is not a real problem with hardware like yours: as you can see, your GPU is already rated at max, although its memory is not. An undetected card is a problem, but the game is clearly detecting yours. Anyway, if you want to get the card recognized, follow these instructions. If you only want to fix the VRAM (GPU memory) rating, skip to the texture memory part at the end.

To get the GPU recognized, you'll need to edit a two files called graphicscards.sgr and graphicsrules.sgr, which are both located in the Sims 3 program files. For an Origin install, the default file path is:

    Program files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

Note: These instructions only apply to and will only work for the original poster's graphics card. If you'd like help getting your own card recognized, please post the same information from deviceconfig and ask for help.

Open graphicscards.sgr (Notepad works fine), and crtl-F to search for 10de. That will take you to these lines:

    vendor "NVIDIA" 0x10b4 0x12d2 0x10de
    card 0x0fd1 "GeForce GT 650M"
    card 0x0fd2 "GeForce GT 640M"

Create a new line under the "Nvidia" line, copy this text, and paste it in the new line:

    card 0x1f15 "GeForce RTX 2060"
So you should now see this:

    vendor "NVIDIA" 0x10b4 0x12d2 0x10de
    card 0x1f15 "GeForce RTX 2060"
    card 0x0fd1 "GeForce GT 650M"
    card 0x0fd2 "GeForce GT 640M"

(with indents from spaces that this site isn't displaying properly). Save, quit, and open graphicsrules.sgr. Crtl-F and search for 8800, which will take you here:

    elseif (match("${cardName}", "*8800*") or match("${cardName}", "*9500*") or match("${cardName}", "*9600 GSO*") or match("${cardName}", [etc.]

Change the bolded 8800 to RTX 2060. Don't change anything else, not even the asterisks. This will classify your card as uber.

Finally, scroll back to the top of graphicsrules, and look for this, 8-10 lines down:

    if ($textureMemory == 0)
    seti textureMemory 32
    setb textureMemorySizeOK false

Change the 32 to 1024, and add a # and a space in front of setb. Your card has more VRAM than that, but TS3 can only use 800 MB anyway.

Launch the game at least once to refresh the deviceconfig.log. You'll know it worked if you see a [Found: 1, Matched: 1] next to the card name in deviceconfig, and texture memory listed as 1024 instead of the current 32 MB override.
